Wallabies DIY player ratings vs Springboks: The results

By The Roar / Editor

The results are in! Yesterday, we asked you to rate the Wallabies side that took to the field against the Springboks, and now we’ve added up the data from all of our responders to bring your our DIY player ratings from the Test.

Kurtley Beale – how good is it to have him back? He’s been Australia’s best since his return to the international side and was comfortably our highest-rated player on Saturday night, with an average of 7.69.

In the absence of our usual favourite whipping boy in Stephen Moore though, the voters have gone after Ned Hanigan, who copped an average rating of just 3.24 – more than 1.5 points lower than any other Wallaby in the starting side.

Check out the full results below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Yes but both will be better Waratahs following their Wallaby inclusions. We just have to accept that the Wallabies will be sacrificed each season in order to strengthen the Waratahs.

Dan when you understand the role of a #7 then you will understand that Hoopers score was too high.

So Hanigan is invisible and pushed all over the park and scores a 4 and Genia - who played pretty well, made brilliant tackles, crisp passing as well as making a couple of errors in judgement - scores a 5? These DIY ratings are meaningless. There's got to be a better way to gauge a player's contribution than this.

Hooper makes an awesome try saving tackle and then runs down a potentially match winning drop kick at the end of the game. And he has an average rating below Reece Hodge? Wtf???

Anyone else curious whether there is a serious plan to develop Hodge's goal kicking? That one he had from halfway almost had the legs just off on direction. Get his radar in at distance an suddenly defenders might start overthinking infringements around the breakdown outside Foleys much more limited range.

Charles, I too agree with you comment. I just can't fathom Hanigans' inclusion. He is ineffective at the ruck, he has no impact in attack as a ball carrier and his defence is ordinary. Cheika must see something but buggered if I can. Happy to be proven wrong.

I agree as well. Our backrow is just not working and Ned brings nothing. We need someone to have an impact at the breakdown in our backrow. I still like timani. He is excellent at moving bodies at a breakdown. I have no idea why that prop is there.

He also seems to go to ground on being tackled on a regular basis.

Kuridrani's score is too high He made 3 tackles and missed 5. I don't see what Speight did to have 6 as his most common score.
