Fremantle midfielder Lachie Weller has asked the Dockers to trade him to Gold Coast.
The 21-year-old is contracted for next season but has requested a trade to the Suns so he can be closer to family and friends on the Gold Coast.
Weller, whose brother Maverick played for the Suns before switching to St Kilda, has played 47 AFL games for Fremantle since he was selected 14th overall at the 2014 draft.

I'd be very confident, all things being equal, that Crozier would continue to be a very useful, likely regular, player for Freo if he was still there next year and beyond. The real loss is not as a halfback (we've got and getting plenty of coverage there with Ryan, Blakely, hopefully Wilson), but as a building forward. Hopefully Liam Ryan ends up on Freo's list.

guttsy- have to agree 100% on every point .Hamling was sensational should have won the F&B

The Crozier trade with the Bulldogs is pretty easy to take for Freo when you consider the Hamling trade with the Bulldogs at the end of 2016 probably saved Freo from a wood spoon in 2017.. Hamling was a key player and a irriplacable player in most, if not all, of Freo's wins in 2017. And Hamling was really missed in the Bulldogs lineup in 2017. If Crozier plays well for the Bulldogs and becomes a good player for them, then most people at Freo will be happy for them.

Take your point on Ballantyne and Yarran but ballantyne was back for the last 10 games Crozier should have gone back then he is clearly better suited there as the Bulldogs recognised. But you stated a great chance to develop his game.He is not a filler looking for a game as quoted by Don Freo and he know"s it.

Well, while I don't agree with what Don Freo is saying, Crozier has plenty of talent and certainly has plenty of dpotential, there are a few things about your post there. Crozier actually played the first 2/3's of 2016 across halfback, then played midfield for much of the last third of the season. The "for some reason" he went forward this year was that they lost Ballantyne and Yarran in the preseason, so needed someone to come into that forward set-up. Crozier had one of the best skill sets to do that, and it was a great chance to develop his game.

Don Freo has Turned big time on Crozier.....He knows he played half back the last 5 games in 2016 and excelled. Lyon for some reason played him forward 2017 not even once did he go back. The last of those 5 games was against Bulldogs he was close to BOG The Bullies recognised his great talent and subsequently pursued him to join them. Like all kids his consistency levels have fluctuated but WB have earmarked him to replace Murphy wise move....Will come back to haunt Freo.

At times like this, I'd almost say excitement is overrated Mattician.

Guess what boys. Players come the other way. Freo has already won with the Crozier deal. Wilson will come home and there is good value to come back with Balic and Weller (although don't be surprised to see him stay and play out his contract). The word is, however, that Freo was already discussing this one with Gold Coast on Friday so things will work out very well for Freo.

You know nothing about Freo, do you? Crozier? He is a filler looking for a regular game.

All coming apart at the seams for Fremantle. Looking a bit stupid getting rid of Crozier now. I would have thought Crozier and Weller are two of their more promising young players.
