Fijian Drua vs Sydney Rays: NRC live scores

By Simon Douch / Roar Guru

The Fijian Drua host the Sydney Rays in the second match of the NRC’s final round. Join The Roar for coverage of the match from 3pm (AEDT).

The Drua will be regretting the opportunities missed in last week’s home game against Queensland Country, as a last-minute equalising try, ruled to be held up, sealed their fate.

In an exciting game, the backline continued to fire, with winger Eroni Sau running for 154 metres, including an impressive five clean breaks and five offloads.

If the Drua lose, they will be vulnerable to drop out of the top four completely, so look for plenty of typical Fijian running rugby.

The second-last placed Rays, on the other hand, have the momentum of a big win last weekend. They played an outstanding second half to come from 18 points behind, and bury the Spirit’s finals hopes.

No.8 James Brown had 15 carries for 69 metres, including an impressive line break. If the Rays are to be competitive, Brown really needs to put in another performance like last week.

Prediction
Although their form has dropped recently, the Drua were still incredible to watch last week, with Queensland’s defence winning the game, rather than Fijian shortcomings.

It’s doubtful that the Rays can produce such a strong defensive effort, especially over the full 80 minutes.

Drua to win after a flurry of late tries, 46-17

I hear that the FRU Board have not allowed the Drua to select their best team all year. That they have made the semis is amazing.

I believe the Fiji Drua, have made it to the semifinals on their first NRC, well played today even for the loss, hope the management could get the best available local players with 6 Drua players now already with Flying Fijians Squad in Europe Tour, it's good to see players develop, progress n get international exposure, Vinaka Drua!

Very difficult game to predict. The Fijian Drua are missing 5 forwards and 3 backs from the regular starters from last week's match against Qld Country. The Fiji team to tour Europe got selected and the Drua lost heaps of players to training for the Fiji EOYT. The Rays are also missing some players from last week's starters, 2 forwards and a back, am not sure why these blokes are missing. Nil all after 28 minutes. The Drua forwards have twice counter-rucked right through the ruck and over the ball. Beautiful to see. :)
