Australia vs England: T20 tri-series cricket live scores, blog

By Lachlan Ballingall / Roar Guru

Australia welcome England to Blundstone Arena for the second match in the T20 tri-series. Join The Roar for all the action from 7:40pm (AEDT).

This is England’s first game of the series, the Aussies comfortably winning the opening game against New Zealand, with seven wickets in hand.

However, as we saw in the ODIs, England are a very well drilled white-ball team, with variety in their bowling attack and batsmen who can clear the rope at any point.

The Poms had a good hitout against the Prime Minister’s XI a few days ago, where they chased down 136 only two down. There no doubt will be some confidence brewing after such a convincing result.

One thing the home side have going for them is how different a side this is to the one they fielded in the ODI arena. There are some veterans, but what really excites is the added addition of new players.

The likes of D’Arcy Short and Alex Carey will play a vital role in not only this fixture, but also in the country’s resurgence in the international T20 arena.

Prediction
The visitors showed against the Prime Minister’s XI little signs of a drop off in form, despite having already won the ODI series.

England to win.

Join The Roar from 7:40pm (AEDT) to see Australia get their second win of the tri-series, or England continue their dominance with the white ball.

Since you're asking, yes, I do mind.

No.There is a difference between criticism and unfairly targeted in public. If you can't see the difference, its a pretty ordinary way to go through life.

There is more to Cricket than runs on board. I have a feeling Smith and Maxi don't get along.

Thanks. That is pretty much what I did. I did see the intention in Basil's comment. Maxie was criticized for his training. There are two ways to go. Feel like you are above criticism and dig your heals in. He took it the right way. Not all criticism is a personal thing but it seems like Basil does not like people being criticized at all. Which is a pretty ordinary way to go through life

No. Not at all. I just probably have a different outlook to you. Hope you don't mind

Some people are amused by the irony of it all. If you don't, it doesn't make you righteous in your thinking.

KP has moved past Slats as the most annoying voice in cricket. When they were on together during ODI’s it was unbearable, unbearable

Great inning by Glenn Maxwell, albeit with two dropped catches. On Smith's comment re: "training harder and funky shots", Glenn Maxwell changed his training attitude early last year after being publicly humiliated by S.Smith and Boofhead Lehmann. Everyone knew it at the time including Smith, who sadly seems prone to offer in public negative mutterings about his team mates that he has issues with. Smith even tried to shift blame onto M.Stoinis (87) for the loss in the 5th ODI, conveniently forgetting his own scintillating inning of 12, stumped off the bowling of Moeen Ali. I mean, who the hell gets done by M.Ali????? In many ways, the T20 side is vastly better off with G.Maxwell in the side and without Test Captain S.Smith.

Really it should form the basis of our ODI. Just drop Smith and Warner. Figure out how to fit Starc, Hazlewood and Finch in. Maxi is just a champ. He's one of the highest paid cricketers on Earth for a reason.

Well done Maxi. Stuck it up everyone. I've been begging for the guy to be played all summer. I've been outraged since he was dropped for the Test series. Absolutely delivering in spades and showing his class. If Smith is our best Test batsman than Maxi is clearly are best limited overs batsman. Lot of egg on peoples faces. Been in incredible form since the start of the domestic summer and has continued through to the end of the international summer. Happy to see a great guy succeed in the face of bullying and politics.

You've said that already. People complaining about commentators all summer is the worst I have heard. Watch the cricket. That stuff won't annoy you then. Tall poppy stuff is the weakest human trait. Jealous.

Belittle the English supporters all you like, but Aus won every close decision this summer in all formats, including Khawajas miracle catch which he clearly dropped.Under almost identical circumstances this summer when an Aus'n player has taken a similar catch ,the England player was always given out !!!!!!

Nup. Doogs deflected it with the disdain it deserved. Move on. You are locked in the past.

If he'd taken it a little higher, it would be a different story, but it fully landed on the ground before he had any sort of control. He had fingers on it before it landed, but he didn't catch it until after it hit. It hitting the ground is what enabled him to actually grip the ball. 100% not out.
