Collingwood could lose Tyson Goldsack for entire season

By Roger Vaughan / Wire

Collingwood could have more bad AFL injury news with speculation that Tyson Goldsack could be out for the season.

The Magpies are sweating on the results of more scans on Monday, after Goldsack hurt a knee during Saturday’s pre-season win over the Western Bulldogs.

There was no indication during or after the game that Goldsack had suffered the injury.

But the fear is that the popular tall utility has damaged an anterior cruciate ligament, potentially meaning a season-ending reconstruction.

Goldsack, 30, has played 161 games since his 2007 debut and was a member of Collingwood’s 2010 premiership team.

The Magpies have had a bad run with injuries in the off-season.

After Saturday’s win, coach Nathan Buckley confirmed that Daniel Wells (achilles) and Jamie Elliott (ankle) will not be ready for the round-one clash with Hawthorn.

Suspended utility Jordan de Goey now is also out of action with a hamstring injury, while James Aish has a calf problem.

Levi Greenwood (knee) is not expected back until round two or three.

Alex Fasolo (shoulder) could be ready for the start of the season, while Darcy Moore, Jeremy Howe and Adam Treloar all returned from injury for the Bulldogs game.

Collingwood pair Brodie Grundy and Travis Varcoe will also come under video scrutiny for off-the-ball incidents during the Bulldogs match.

Still googling anything about the pies or Bucks Reservoir for your auto hate response? What did he do to you I wonder? maybe he didn't sign the Pies jumper on your back when you asked? But yeah your point is really valid mate. They will look at you "daring" them to prove you wrong. No doubt it will feature on the big screen in the Holden Centre. Eddie and Bucks and Sando will stand up and say "righto you blokes, Reservoir Animal, some anonymous bloke on the internet who doesn't own up to supporting any team, has dared us to prove him wrong". You might have just motivated us to the flag in 2018 RA!

Sadly it might be. All it takes at Collingwood is one player to get injured and it becomes an excuse to offer Buckley a new contract. I dare them to prove me wrong.

Surely it won't be the last sack to be seen at Collingwood this season

Agreed Pete he's a great clubman and courageous too and being that he's only contracted for this year I hope it's not the end of his career.

Would be a shame for such a courageous premiership player to go out this way.
