Match preview:

The New Zealand Warriors will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they take on the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium in Round 4. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 5:30pm (AEDT).

It’s the first time the Warriors have started a season with three straight wins in the club’s history, and it’s fair to say that very few would have predicted it. They’ve had wins over Souths, the Titans and Canberra so far in 2018.

Last week against the Raiders was a great escape for the Warriors, coming back from 19-12 down with four minutes to go to snatch a one-point win.

The Roosters have two wins to show for their efforts this season. They were upset by the Tigers in Round 1, but since then they’ve beaten the Bulldogs and Newcastle. Their attack has been clicking into gear in the last two matches as they’ve racked up 68 points, and they’ll provide a big test for the improved defence Stephen Kearney’s men have shown.

Coach Trent Robinson has named an unchanged Roosters’ line-up for this weekend.

Kearney has reshuffled his forward pack, with Adam Blair being named at lock and Agnatius Paasi at prop. He’s also been forced to make one change to the interchange bench, with Chris Satae in for the suspended Sam Lisone.

Prediction
Roosters by 7.

Worriers have been the Rooster's bogey team since 2002 GF. Not surprised that we lost, but surprised at the extent. Worriers look pretty good this year.

Match report WARRIORS 30 ROOSTERS 6 The Warriors have continued their unbeaten start to the season, recording their fourth win in a row to beat the Roosters 30-6 at Allianz Stadium. Their win today was even more special because it was without halfback Shaun Johnson, who was forced to withdraw from the match with a groin injury. Blake Green and replacement half Mason Lino stepped up in Johnson’s absence, with the kicking game of Green helping the Warriors to control the game. The Warriors had a shaky defensive start though. The Roosters spread the ball wide on a set play to create an overlap for Latrell Mitchell to score an easy try in the third minute. But from that moment on, the Warriors’ defence was as committed as it’s ever been. They scored their first try in the 11th minute when Tohu Harris offloaded a great ball to Lino for him to score. They were in again six minutes later when second-rower Leivaha Pulu ran a great line off a ball from prop Adam Blair to crash his way over the line. Their third try followed in the 25th minute, after they spun the ball wide on a set play and centre Solomone Kata used his size and strength to barge his way over out wide. The Roosters had an opportunity to hit back late in the first half when Latrell Mitchell made a bust up the middle near halfway, but a desperate tackle from Warriors’ captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck saved a try. The second half only saw one try, and once again it was from the Warriors. In the 59th minute, Lino put in a cross-field bomb and winger David Fusitua leapt spectacularly to take the ball and plant it down for a four-pointer. The rest of the Warriors’ points came from penalty goals as they shut the Roosters out of the match. There was a total of twenty penalties across the match to both sides, as the crackdown on illegal defensive tactics continues. It was an error-riddled performance from the Roosters, but plenty of them were caused by the pressure the Warriors applied. The Warriors are increasingly showing they are a much more committed team for the full 80 minutes this season. Their attack is more disciplined, and their defence is enthusiastic. Not many would have tipped them to win today, especially with the withdrawal of Johnson, and no-one at the start of the year would have tipped them to be undefeated after four rounds. But they already have the scalps of Souths, the Titans, Canberra and the Roosters to give them great confidence for the long year ahead.

I was one who tipped them for the spoon this year... this is so good to watch. I really hope they finally fulfil their potential this year. Always knew NZ had it in attack but their defence has been outstanding.

Apart from Cordner the roosters forwards are a bunch of gumps. All the praise after beating the minnows last week was hilarious. Roosters no hope this year.
