Western Bulldogs vs Carlton Blues: AFL live scores, blog, highlights

By Lachlan Ballingall / Roar Guru

The Western Bulldogs host the Carlton Blues at Etihad Stadium in a game that either side will feel they can win. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 7:50pm (AEST).

Between these two sides, there has been only one win after five games.

The one win has come from the Dogs, but they were thumped last week by the Dockers at the Optus Stadium. They certainly aren’t the side they were back in 2016, but there have been some positives from certain individuals.

Toby McLean has certainly flown under the radar in recent times, yet he consistently performs in a team that isn’t firing on all cylinders, with his ability to win the ball and use it to great effect on display this season.

In team news for the Dogs, Lukas Webb and Mitch Honeychurch have been omitted, while Tory Dickson won’t feature due to injury. Hayden Crozier, Bailey Williams and Lachie Hunter are the three inclusions.

As for the Blues, they are yet to win a game.

They showed fight against the West Coast Eagles last weekend, but ultimately fell short. Harry McKay was the standout player, kicking four goals, while Patrick Cripps again showed he is a born leader and a star of the future.

Jarrod Garlett and Jed Lamb are omitted for the Blues, with Caleb Marchbank and Matt Kennedy the inclusions.

Prediction
This will be a close one, but the Dogs should have too much over four quarters.

Bulldogs by 16.

Good to get the 4 points but that was simply embarrassing. I said in the pre match the team that won would be the team that best took advantage of all the turnovers but it went well beyond that. There were actually parts of the game and some goals that literally made me laugh, and even multiple occasions when a player would miss a simple handball, only to get the ball back and then miss the handball again. The Dogs have really gone backwards after the flag and Carlton are now 1-17 from their last 18 games and 0-6 is the worst start in their clubs history. Anyone taking a positive out of that shambles of a game is absolutely kidding themselves. All the people who were taking their partners out so they didn't have to watch this head shaking laugh fest made the right call and I hope you enjoyed your nights.

Direness all round. As Macca pointed out,the teams are each averaging less than 10 goals a game. Fisher was pretty keen for a player weighing two burnt matchsticks. Cripps and Bontempelli stood out. That's about it.

As mentioned earlier this year: Bolton will be shining shoes in 2019.

Now any good Netflix shows? Not much to analyze in that game.

Average game to say the least. The Dogs just had a bit too much class come the end, and the Blues never looked like getting a big score. Patrick Cripps the best player on the ground.

Blues are devoid of anything resembling confidence, I'm joining the chorus questioning Bolton.

This is quite possibly the worst footy I've ever witnessed. At least BT has made it entertaining with some humorous calling.
