The Dogs have been an interesting team to follow so far in 2018 – they’re fielding the youngest side on average by a large way, but despite this have been relatively competitive.
Their first two weeks were atrocious football but they bounced back to win their first match of the season over Essendon in Round 3 but have been relatively competitive since.
The end result is a 3-4 record and they find themselves in the lower half of the ladder. Finals seems unlikely, but they’re doing well given the youth of the side.
Brisbane on the other hand have played some really good footy at times but generally not all together in one game and as a result they’ve had a winless start to the year.
They’ve lost two games by less than a goal, and then last week by seven points against Collingwood, a series of heartbreaking results.
Carlton’s win earlier today now makes Brisbane the only side in the league who are yet to win a game in the 2018 AFL season.
Marcus Bontempelli and Lukas Webb are in for the Bulldogs this week to replace Lin Jong and Tom English who have been dropped.
Nick Robertson is in for Brisbane after Jacob Allison was dropped.
Prediction
Brisbane have a legitimate chance here but the return of Bontempelli plus the home ground advantage makes the Bulldogs favourites.

A very frustrating game to watch. Despite the fact that the doggies were in the main the better team, If not for some really basic errors combined with poor kicking straight to the opposition, the lions could have stolen the game. There was some good play at times from Brisbane. I thought Zorko tried hard. Hipwood need to spend a week kicking for goal, his return was 2 points from about 7 shots. Turnovers from really poor errors need to be addressed. Better teams would have buried the lions with that amount of mistakes, which makes me think the doggies are still behind the pace.

yeah I had to spilt my attention tonight, watched the 2nd and 3rd quarters, had that feel a lot of games had though where we get close but aren't a realistic shot at winning deja vu indeed. Some really frustrating skill errors tonight as usual - goalkicking was bloody terrible this week, McStay and Hipwood are drop and hope type merchants at the moment, Cutler missed a very gettable shot from dead in front. Christensen caused a turnover in the 3rd with a lazy shiftless kick and missed a player 15m away that led to a goal and that was the last point I watched for the night, that was me done. This is a really tough team to watch. If you make the mistake of getting invested in them after a good week's performance they are very very capable of tearing your heart out the following weekend. Turning the TV off is an evolved self-defence mechanism at times.

Poor old Brisbane it is very hard to be a Lions supporter now days although they haven't been playing that bad. If they could manage to find a real strong goal kicking key foward and a few decent defenders they could be a decent team.
