NRL team list Tuesday live blog: Round 12 - all 16 teams named

By Scott Pryde / Expert

The Melbourne Storm are the big winners ahead of Round 12, with three stars set to be back in the fold after their loss last week. There are plenty of players out though, so join The Roar for all the analysis, news and team lists from 3:30pm (AEST).

With State of Origin just around the corner and teams set to be announced after this weekend, Round 12 shapes as the final opportunity for players to push their selection case.

One man not worrying about his place in a State of Origin team is Cameron Smith. Alongside Sam Kasiano, he returns from suspension for the Storm this week, while Jesse Bromwich is also likely to be back for the trip to Townsville. Curtis Scott, of course, will be missing after deciding to make Dylan Walker his personal punching bag.

Speaking of the Sea Eagles, Walker will be out for six weeks with a broken eye socket from the incident, and Apisai Koroisau is set to join him on the sidelines.

Running through the rest of the teams, and it would appear Korbin Sims will miss this week with a broken jaw after the big hit from Dylan Napa, who sensationally has no case to answer at the judiciary after being sent to the sin bin. It means the Roosters are likely to be unchanged.

Raiders second-rower Joseph Tapine wasn’t quite so lucky, though, and will miss two weeks for a shoulder charge.

At Parramatta, Beau Scott will miss the rest of the season for the Eels with an ACL injury, while Jarryd Hayne and Nathan Brown are possible ins for this week.

Matt Scott is waiting on results from scans on a knee injury to see if he will play this week, while Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Luke Lewis of the Warriors and Sharks respectively are also due back this week.

More problems are confronting the Knights, with Brock Lamb and Jacob Saifiti both injured last week, while there is a chance James Graham will also be missing after struggling with a back injury against the Raiders. The Dragons will take on Penrith in a top-of-the-table clash, who, for the first time this season, could be unchanged.

But I still think Kahu displaces Isaako if necessary. Say if Jack Bird was to find even a fraction of his potential form there’d be some headaches. Him and Jimmy tie down the centre spots. Oates is a lock in. There’s hardly any room for him in the forwards atm, let alone once McGuire and Gillett return. Kahu’s stock shoots up as a winger. So Isaako misses out. ... And we probably go back to having to score two more tries to win a game due to masses of missed conversions.

I think we’re on the same page, but I just wasn’t clear. IMO this is our best backline, Isaako included. Even if everyone was fit I think he holds his spot. Opacic the unluckiest to miss out.

Isn't Opacic out cos he got knocked out last week? I dunno if athletic ability ever overrules team cohesion. Kahu's a great player but I'm not sure he's better for the team then Isaako at the moment

Have to be he case. Bennett will be careful to limit game time for them both. Kahu is proven but not fit. Staggs was good marking Takairangi is a different beast to Aubo. Bennett did say he planned for Staggs to be used 2nd half only last week so wouldn't be surprised if he stays by that plan.

Agreed he is a better winger than centre or fullback, but Kahu is a skilled athlete and has to be out there. The only way other way to fit him in would be on Issakos wing. Might save us a few tries. But would be a pretty major disruption to our combos. Gonna go the other way and say this is the best backline our squad currently has to offer. Even if all were fit. Stagg had a massive game. But if anyone should feel hard done by it would be Opacic. He has given 100% effort every minute he’s been out there. Might not have much flair, but gets his job done. An excellent partner to Jimmy.

Panthers and dragons too. Top 4 playing each other. Should give everyone a better look at who are the favourites.

John Olive will get a chance in the Bulldogs side for the first time this season. It comes with Josh Morris being ruled out for eight weeks after sustaining an ugly looking knee injury against the Sharks. Adam Elliott is demoted to the bench with Raymond Faitala-Mariner set to make his return, meaning Asipeli Fine is back to the reserves list.

There are a mountain of changes here for a very different looking Tigers side. First off the bat, the man who missed out through a disciplinary issue last week, Mahe Fonua, is back into the centres. Tuimoala Lolohea is also back at fullback, meaning Corey Thompson will shuffle his way onto the wing, pushing the youngster Malakai Watene-Zelezniak all the way out of the side. Michael Chee-Kam survives the axe though, taking a spot in the second row with Robbie Rochow out. Chris McQueen is also out of the side, paving the way for Josh Reynolds to make his return on the bench, playing just his second game of the season. Matt Eisenhuth has also been demoted to the bench with Jacob Liddle taking his spot at hooker and Elijah Taylor being shuffled into the number 13 jumper.

Luke Lewis and, more surprisingly, Wade Graham, return for the Sharks this week, having potential Origin implications. Joseph Paulo is on the bench, while Kurt Capewell and Jack Williams miss the 17 all together - maybe a surprise given Capewell has been playing solidly.
