Sunwolves vs Bulls: Super Rugby live scores

By Scott Pryde / Expert

It might be a virtual dead rubber, but the Sunwolves and Bulls will be keen to get the final stretch of the season off to a good start when they meet in Singapore. Join The Roar for live scores of the match from 9:55pm (AEST).

The Sunwolves finally had a little bit of success in the weeks leading up to the international window, with a pair of wins getting them off the mark for the season.

It’s been a tough initiation to Super Rugby sicne the side were incepted, but the pair of victories were among their best performances in franchise history.

First, it was a thumping victory over the Brisbane-based Reds, where the ‘Wolves ran up 63 points, putting their opponents to the sword in ruthless fashion. The following week, they went to a hot and humid Hong Kong where they managed to upset the Stormers by three points.

While they couldn’t keep it going when they went back out on the road, losing a couple of games before the break, they can take solace in the fact the duck has been broken for the season.

On the other side of the coin, it’s been a somewhat disappointing season for the Bulls. They have won just five games, and with three to go before the end of the season, chances of qualifying for the top eight are gone for the Pretoria-based side.

They come into this game off two straight losses where they conceded 54 points away from home against the Jaguares and 38 at home against the Brumbies, leaving serious questions over their defence.

Given the Sunwolves desire to attack and score points when they play well, it’s a fair assumption to think they might go around some weak defence here in what could be a very high-scoring game.

Prediction
The Sunwolves went back to losing before the break, but their last two games at home resulted in victories. Playing a side like the Bulls, they could well hit the ground running and come away with a narrow win against a side who may show some rust.

Sunwolves by 6.

A very impressive win by the Wolves. The last 8-9 weeks they have been competitive and earned their spurs and points. That they play entertaining rugby combined with great attitude and sportsmanship makes them very likable.

Not much more at the Brumbies game - their worst season on the spectator front ever.

What an effort from the Sunwolves, who hold on to win their 6th ever game. In 2016 they won just one; but last year winning two, now that's their third this year, and second ever win over the Bulls. Credit to Harry, Brett and myself who all tipped them.

Dismal crowd again. Maybe 1,000 people tops. All those empty seats look bad on TV. But what can Sanzaar expect? There are no stars playing except Kriel and Pollard. And no one here in Singapore knows what rugby is let alone where The Bulls come from. Is it Chicago? There are hardly any South Africans living in Singapore. Why don’t the Sunwolves try playing an Aussie team here and see if that helps? There are tens of thousands of Australians living here.
