VOTE: Wallabies DIY player ratings vs All Blacks Bledisloe 2

By The Roar / Editor

The Bledisloe Cup belongs to the All Blacks once again after they handed the Wallabies a 40-12 caning at Eden Park on Saturday night.

It’d be fair to say that in a 28-point loss, the Wallabies didn’t really manage to improve at all on what was a 25-point loss the week beforehand.

Australia simply didn’t have an answer for the dominance of Beauden Barrett, who scored four tries for the home side en route to a crushing victory.

Need to vent? Of course you do. And so we’re opening up our DIY Player Ratings to you, Roarers. Have a vote and let us know what you thought of each player’s performance.

If you’ve not done our DIY player ratings before, it’s a simple enough process. Hit up the form below and rate each player from 1 to 10 based on their performance. We’ll keep track of the results and publish our findings tomorrow.

You’re free to rate players as you like with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest – or toss an NA on any player not worth rating – but if you’re looking for a bit more detail than that, our handy little guide might help you make your judgments…

1. Had he not played, the team would have been better off. Negatively affected the performance of the side. May God have mercy on his soul.
2. Anonymous. Was he even there?
3. Did some things that you expect a player to be able to do, but did a whole bunch of other things that sucked.
4. Was passable in patches, but not up to standard in a squad of such depth.
5. Performed his role without anything really noticeable happening.
6. Good.
7. Pretty good, actually.
8. Very good.
9. Excellent.
10. Might as well have been John Eales.

There's quite a few who would beat him hands down in a tackle comp.

I agree Kirky, first Pocock will never whinge about and second, it's a compliment to the quality of his play. Tough bugger too, I thought he was gone early on but played a great game.

Didn't rate Hodges performance more than a 5, I thought Maddocks could hold his head high though was busy, ran well, tackled well, kicked OK and I think made one mistake.

Koroibete was useless all game, looks good running with the ball but makes to many mistakes in contact and defensively is a liability. I thought he was the worst player on the field last night and I used to be a fan. Replace him with Banks.

Fionn! If you said that to Pocock he'd very likely laugh at you and walk away, he's no different to any good player in that he knows what to expect and will never gripe about his lot, those are the Players you admire!

Rebel!! True as written, ~ the player goes hard, he gets hit hard, that's one of the reasons the All Blacks are so good at what they do, and they like any top Team get roughed up also, it works all ways it's just the some teams are better at it!

I'm not sure I'd rate Beale as Poor or Foley as Mediocre, I'd maybe swap them? I thought Beale did OK in defence in the first half and at least tried to do a job of the tactical kicking. Not sure either worked though :-/ I thought the forwards did a decent job w.r.t. set pieces and rucking and mauling in the first half. Things went pear-shaped as the replacements came on. Simmons was shockingly bad around the park - so was Robertson. Faainga gave it a solid crack. To my mind Australia's inability to really do much on attack is where things went wrong. Cycling through a lot of phases for not much gain. The attack seemed to be spread thinly across the field and only DHP was really breaking tackles regularly.

If any player is playing to the degree he needs to secure any ball at all in nefarious or in the 'dark arts' line of work required, he wears a 'must shut down' target on his back and that's how MaCaw operated always and Pocock does the same, ~ same type of character also, suck it up as part of the possie' demands! As long as it legal, the Referee has no right whatsoever in making Pocock any dispensations re the 'on the ball play' whatsoever unless he's being roughed up unnecessarily, but as a rule stealing the ball consistently and not always within the Law either exposes him and anyone else to be dealt with in the best way possible, that has always been the case!

Yeah...Highlander pointed out to me that Koroibete fell off a lot of tackles...I may need to re-watch the game in a better state of sobriety.....but on the night I kept seeing Koroibete pop up and doing some good work....I can't say I have ever taken much notice of him before so maybe I need to go back to the drawing-board!

Get a new dealer mate the stuff you're using is affecting your eyes, you've only got on eye now as it is perhaps the big loss to the All Blacks may have been, just may have been~ because they were the better team on the day! Pocock won't complain and I'd be very surprised if he even says anything about his time on the paddock, but he's a hard worker everyone knows that and as any hard working rugby player would tell you, ''you go hard at the ball you get hit hard", it's common sense as the opposing Team won't let a good player ply his good stuff without trying to nullify that good stuff!! He got hammered yesterday but never wavered, just got back up and went again, he could have removed himself from the field at any time during the course of the game but he chose to carry on which fact, surprised me because he sure appeared to be hurting somewhat! Playing in any loose forward possie' and doing it as a good Loosie' should, makes you a target no doubt and a target that needs to be shut down as soon as possible. Surprising he stayed on the paddock as early on in the piece yesterday he appeared to be struggling, but he chose his own path and got fairly challenged, and I bet he won't complain, it's the one eyed wonders that do it for him that complain!

Put Cheika in the ABs- he would have B Barrett playing centre, Moody on the wing and Reid at Fullback lol

Talk to Barrett when he scored one of his tries, coped one from Pocock who was also in an offside position when he did it. How many times did the Wannabees tackle players off the ball dum ass

MCs angry response to both questions was telling. First, that he seemingly wasn’t expecting that line of questioning despite the result and second, the underlying sense of entitlement he exhibited with his childish, nasty response in both instances.

Wallabies lack consistency and endurance. Pocock being the notable exception. Make him captain and so he can truly lead by example. Huge improvement in the tight 5 this week. ABs still too good in the breakdown. Chieka is now driving a siege mentality into the team; need to refresh coaching lineup and approach to the game esp: skills coach (kidding himself when he says ball skills are equivalent).

If Wallabies accept, as there seem determined to, they they will make turnovers in attack, why is it that they persist with having absolutely no structures to adddress the inevitable AB counterattack?

There could also be an element within the thought processes of RA that just assumes a talented kid playing rugby will sign with them. Despite the evidence against that assumption. Christian Cullen was once asked why he played for Manawatu in the NPC instead of Wellington. He replied that Manawatu had asked him to, no-one in the Wellington Union ever had. Some of those juniors may have wanted to play union for the Super Rugby sides & the Wallabies, but no-one bothered to let them know they were interested in signing until it was too late.

He scored a try and was our only backline defender.
