VOTE: Wallabies DIY player ratings vs Argentina

By The Roar / Editor

The Wallabies are fresh off one of their most disappointing results in recent history, losing to Argentina on home soil on Saturday night.

Fans got the chance to see what it would looked like if David Pocock player at No.7 and captained the side, as well as Israel Folau on the wing, but it’s fair to say that the overall result was not impressive.

How did the individual experiments fare amongst an overall disappoinitng performance? We want to know what you think.

And so we’re opening up our DIY Player Ratings to you, Roarers. Have a vote and let us know what you thought of each player’s performance.

If you’ve not done our DIY player ratings before, it’s a simple enough process. Hit up the form below and rate each player from 1 to 10 based on their performance. We’ll keep track of the results and publish our findings tomorrow.

You’re free to rate players as you like with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest – or toss an NA on any player not worth rating – but if you’re looking for a bit more detail than that, our handy little guide might help you make your judgments…

1. Had he not played, the team would have been better off. Negatively affected the performance of the side. May God have mercy on his soul.
2. Anonymous. Was he even there?
3. Did some things that you expect a player to be able to do, but did a whole bunch of other things that sucked.
4. Was passable in patches, but not up to standard in a squad of such depth.
5. Performed his role without anything really noticeable happening.
6. Good.
7. Pretty good, actually.
8. Very good.
9. Excellent.
10. Might as well have been John Eales.

The reality is that this team would have made someone like gregan look bad,we lack tremendously at the breakdown,we need quicker ball we need a powerhouse number 6 Tui and Hannigan have not performed. Genia was at his potent best when he had higgs at 6 and not even greats like Mccaw or read could stop it,higgs is only 32 a year younger than read,he might not give you line breaking runs, but he still has a lot of speed and he is just the type of muscle we need at breakdown.I honestly do believe along with McMahon if we had them we would not have lost against Argentina and scores would have been a lot closer against all blacks.

Front row need to work. So I is lazy and Thor horrible in general play. His missed tackle directly led to a try. Folau hogging the ball was schoolboy stuff. There are NO excuse for that selfishness.

Pocock, seems a bit slow for an ideal 7. If he can learn to throw, he could consider a switch to hooker. I consider him a better fit for the captaincy than Hooper, but it is a learned skill, and he does not have it yet, sadly. Managing the ref is different from complaining to the ref. Sadly, we know that when Hooper is fit, he will be captain again. And that next game Phipps and Hannigan will be on the bench. And that 4years after the Tahs won the Super title, the number 10 that day is the only 10 employed in the whole country. Too much to say. It’s already been said. We have numerous on field leaders but we lack real leadership. Too many cooks, not enough broth.

Hi I am a South African who is a Wallaby supporter since 1994. Pocock was great as usual atleast he in the top 3 of the best backrowers, not like hooper he doesn’t even reach the top 10. My gut feeling was that Cheicka sabotaged the game by caoching extra badly just to so that HIS team needs hooper. Beale is like a 5 year old with a ball running all over the place and tackles like one too. The 1ste try Argies scored I cloud see Beale and the million dollar man aka Falou we cant tackle either stroll while the forwards sprint to prevent a try. I believe if you don’t have confidence in your coaching team as a player, then there is a problem.

The only other player I scored well was Toomua, his kicking excellent and solid in defence, only all the drop ball and the team seemingly in disarray left him without much ball. Utterly perplexed by Cheka would take him off ... bringing on Foley and Phibbs of all people ... pathetic effort.

First comment, Whoot! Most got 5 for at least trying. Lower scores went to L.Tui (headspace was elsewhere) who dropped the ball too often andmissed a couple of important tackles, K.Beale who refused to tackle and must have run 5km with the ball all at 90° to the field, R.Arnold who seemed right off the pace although he was a rock in the middle and everyone's whipping boy N.Phipps. Higher than 5 went to Captain Pocock, S.Sio and T.Tapou. Was a dire game to watch so likely missed a lot.
