What's next for Ash Barty?

By The Roar / Editor

Ashleigh Barty etched her name into the Australian sporting record books after picking up our first French Open victory since 1973.

The 23-year-old superstar lost just two sets across the entire tournament – not bad for someone who’d been quoted on their discomfort with playing on clay before.

Given the former prodigy had walked away from tennis for a few years, only returning in 2016, to salute so decisively at arguably the toughest grand slam is something else.

How good can Barty get? What’s her career ceiling?

Roar tennis expert Scott Pryde hopped on the Game of Codes podcast to celebrate her stunning achievement and have a look at just how far Barty can go in the near future.

Listen to the discussion:

Entering Roland Garros as the eighth seed, winning her first three matches against Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins and Andrea Petkovic in straight sets, finally dropping her first one in a three-set fourth-round win over Sofia Kenin.

She went on to roll past Madison Keys in the quarter-final, come from a set down to beat Amanda Anisimova in the semi-final before downing Marketa Vondroušová in the final.
