Richmond have continued the MCG misery for GWS, who have lost star onballer Stephen Coniglio to a knee injury early in their 27-point AFL loss.
The Tigers opened their seven-game MCG stretch on Sunday with a convincing 13.16 (94) to 9.13 (67) win in sodden conditions.
While Richmond are on a three-game winning streak, it is the Giants’ third-straight loss and they face a massive home game on Saturday against Collingwood.
GWS have never beaten the Tigers at the MCG and have a 3-15 record there.
Giants star Lachie Whitfield was also forced off in the third term, but he returned and played out the game.
Less than five minutes after the opening bounce, Coniglio hurt his left knee as he changed direction.
The Giants’ star needed help from two trainers as he limped off the ground and straight into the rooms.
It looked serious, but all the Giants would say was that he would need scans.
The knee was strapped already after Coniglio was hurt in last week’s loss to Brisbane.
Richmond kicked four goals to none in the first term and looked well on the way to a comfortable win.
Jack Riewoldt, in his first game back since he was injured in round six, kicked a goal and was combining well with fellow key forward Tom Lynch.
But the Giants hit back, with Jeremy Cameron kicking two goals in as many minutes late in the second term.
They only trailed by 14 points at the long break and reduced that to nine when first-gamer Ian Hill kicked the opening goal of the third term.
Whitfield was forced off late in the third term after a heavy collision and, moments later, Jason Castagna goaled to put the Tigers 18 points up.
That sparked two more goals for the Tigers, taking them to a 30-point lead at three-quarter time.
Cameron kicked the first goal of the last term to give GWS some hope, but Toby Greene pushed Shane Edwards as Kane Lambert kicked a goal.
That meant a soft free to Edwards and the double-goal removed any doubt about the win.
Lambert and Lynch kicked three goals apiece as defenders Dylan Grimes and Bachar Houli starred for Richmond.
Tim Taranto was best for GWS, while livewire forward Hill kicked three goals on debut and Cameron also bagged three.

The article is totally inaccurate when it says “Toby Greene pushed Shane Edwards as Kane Lambert kicked a goal.” As you said, he threw a round arm, which you could even hear the umpire say on the broadcast, but it was not as Lambert kicked it but after the umpire signalled a goal. The outcome was severe but the free was correct.

Greene threw a round arm to the upper body right in front of the sticks. and the umps. had been sneakily driving players faces into the ground, stray forearms to the schnozz in scrimmages etc. he just caught/baited this time. I don't mind him doing that, he is a skilled champ and dirty little bugger in the Sheedy tradition, I would have him at Tigerland in an instant. he could win us flag after flag.

The Tigers are coming. Cotchin was at his brilliant best. Lynch and Riewoldt communicate well and don’t compete for the same mark. Lynch is finding form at the right time of the season. People forget he has been overcoming an injury. Chol and Bolton played well too. Another positive was that we won without Dusty playing a blinder.
