The fixturing head honchos at AFL HQ deserve themselves a neat little bonus this weekend, as we’ve got all of the current top four sides facing off with one another on the same weekend.
Well, the fact they’ve shoved those games into the Saturday 2:10pm and Sunday 1:10pm timeslots probably sees that bonus thinned, but it’s still shaping up to be one hell of a round.
When the Lions and Cats clash at The Gabba and the Tigers and Eagles clash at the MCG, who’ll be walking away victorious?
We were joined on the Game of Codes podcast by Roar AFL expert and editor Stirling Coates to preview both matches and make a call on who takes the points.
Listen to the discussion:
Brisbane, winners of eight straight, will start warm favourites against the spluttering Cats, who have alternated wins and losses since the bye. The Lions haven’t knocked off Geelong since the famous Ashley McGrath game in 2013, however.
Richmond will be rocked by the loss of Trent Cotchin for their potential grand final preview with West Coast. How much of a difference will it make at the ‘G?
Visit our Game of Codes hub to catch the full episode and be sure to subscribe and review on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts or wherever else you’re listening.

Really interesting games between the top 4 this week. Who could have guessed this outcome at the start of the year. I will start the ball rolling, Brisbane and West Coast for me.

If they lose to the Tiges Gerard then they are no chance of top two.
