David Warner fails again against Tasmania

By News / Wire

David Warner’s lean trot has continued as NSW’s all-star side failed to fire with the bat against Tasmania in their one-day clash at North Sydney Oval on Wednesday.

The Test opener was uncharacteristically tied down before he skied a wild pull shot off Riley Meredith to be caught and bowled for four off 12 balls.

Warner commenced the domestic season with 125 for the Blues in their Sheffield Shield opener against Queensland a fortnight ago, but has since scored a duck and one.

Test regular Warner is fighting to retain his spot for the opening Test against Pakistan after a disastrous Ashes tour.

Test star Steve Smith, who looked in good touch with consecutive fours off his pads, also failed. He was caught at square leg for nine.
After 36 overs, NSW were 7-187 after being sent in to bat.

NSW boast four Test bowlers in their side with Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood making their first appearances for the summer, alongside Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon.

You do realise that this is a one day game right? He's still our best One Day batsman. Averaging 46, 4 better than Smith.

The guy is well past his best He will have an ordinary summer and be an auto pick for years to come The lack of Australian opening options is a worry I am praying that Warner will keep his head down and score low. He is not a test player.

What a lucky boy in that there is not a single opener in Australia knocking on the door to take his place !
