The Roar's A-League Men tips and predictions: Macarthur FC vs Western United

By Stuart Thomas / Expert

A hastily scheduled and rare Tuesday night fixture has thrown the regular tips and predictions timeline into disarray.

Macarthur FC does battle with Western United at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in Sydney tonight with top spot on the line for the home side and Western looking for a second straight win after knocking off the reigning champions last Saturday.

This looks like an interesting affair with John Aloisi’s team probably exceeding expectations thus far and Macarthur, after having played very little football of late, also a chance to go top should they secure the three points. Boxing Day was the last time we saw the Bulls in action and that presents a dangerous proposition for the coaching and medical staff if results of other teams returning after considerable breaks are anything to go by.

Conversely, the Sydney club should be injury free, with United also appearing healthy and eager. Alessandro Diamanti is back in the line-up and regaining full fitness, Steven Lustica is producing some of the best football of his career and having conceded just six goals in eight matches, United enter this fixture as firm favourites. Macarthur has also been stingy in defence, yet it should be visitors in this one, with a 2-1 score line likely.

Finally, a return to Campbelltown for Macarthur FC, a first game for over a month, where their unbeaten start to the season was abruptly ended. United had a big scalp on the weekend and were good value for their win over the champions. With Macarthur effectively starting their season again, it is difficult to know what to expect.

Dylan Pierias will shine for the visitors, Tommy Uskok will be immense for the home team, and that will be the basis for a rousing home performance, Jordon Mutch firing in a brace as Macarthur get back to winning ways and flex their muscles in the title race.

Bulls v WU ended in a draw that only really came alive in the 2nd half. Im expecting Glory to win on the road again and Adelaide to dick SFC.

Our players are amazing. I'm under an umbrella and lazing by a pool trying to keep cool, but tonight I'll be expecting the players to give a hundred percent and play a fast, open, expansive and attacking game! The game on Sunday between Sydney FC and The Mariners was a great game and it was played in heat. Milos Ninkovic - is he really 37? Still plays like a teenager and I thought Cummings would die after coming from Scotland, but he did well. Our A League teams deserve a lot of praise.

Hopefully the southerly kicks in before hand. Stinker today. Long lay off for the Bulls. Should be a good one.
