What time do the Wallabies play Argentina and how do you watch it

By The Roar / Editor

Set your alarms early because it’s a bumper start to the Rugby Championship with South Africa hosting New Zealand and Argentina at home to Australia.

The Springboks-All Blacks game is scheduled to kick off at 1:05am (AEST) on Sunday August 7.

The Argentina-Wallabies match will follow a few hours later at 5:10am (AEST).

The Wallabies can expect an imposing atmosphere at the 42,000-seat Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza.

How to watch Argentina vs Wallabies live stream in Australia

Stan Sport and Channel Nine own the rights to most rugby union matches for Australian audiences.

For both the Springboks-All Blacks and Pumas-Wallabies there is just one option to watch the games and that is through Stan Sport. The free 9Now service will NOT have either game as they are exclusive to Stan.

New subscribers are entitled to a 7-day free trial before the subscription kicks in at a minimum of $20 per month depending on what package you want.

How to watch Argentina vs Wallabies on TV

There is no traditional free-to-air option for the Argentina leg of the Rugby Championship. It is a Stan Exclusive event.

Just repeating you WON’T be able to watch this match on Channel 9.

Stan is available on most smart TVs.

Of course, if you can’t get access to the game and want to follow along with rugby tragics we’ll be covering the game here on The Roar with a live blog of the action and live scores from the Springboks-All Blacks match.

Yeah, thanks for the info which means here in the Philippines the live blogs are my only option. For what my opinion is worth, I honestly cannot pick a winner in Boks v ABs but I feel the Wallabies should get up in a close one over the Pumas.

If you can’t be bothered watching the game while it is actually being played… you are not a serious supporter. The cost of “a couple of streaming services” represents something which requires very careful thought. Irony! I get it!

If you can’t be bothered watching the game while it is actually being played, because you’re so like under 45 and everything, you are not a serious supporter. End of, no matter how you want to dress it up. Actually has nothing to do with age, “unwilling or unable” and so forth. For a lot of people, not all of whom are over 45, the cost of “a couple of streaming services” represents something which requires very careful thought. Take a long hard look in the mirror and think of a word that rhymes with “tanker”.

Or, since you’ll probably be too drunk to remember what you “watched” live, get some sleep, watch the replay and save even more money. Or just admit that your real sport is getting sh$tfaced and don’t bother with the football. PS: for some people, who are NOT cheapskates, $20 or $60, in spite of your sneering dismissal, is a significant amount of money.

I’ll just be happy watching the league. The Eels vs Manly was fantastic can’t wait for a Cheka win. RA hates spectators.

Buy a block from the bottle0 for $60 instead of $300 to $400 over the bar save hundreds and get legless at same time watching stan then watch replays later again to remember double the value

Its $20 a month for stan sport cheapskates. Thsts less than 4 coffees or beers. When the rugby's over you can dump it. So if you buy coffees which are milkshakes for today's people try making g it the old fashioned way and save hundreds a year while watching stan  and take a bottle of pure rain water from home if go out

Surprised they won't show the game live FTA, it can't be up against much, and the on-demand would still be on Stan Sports. Puzzling, because sports broadcasts generally seem to be tailored to boomers who are unable or unwilling to keep up with modernity. I don't know a huge number of people under 45 who still have a connected antenna, let alone watch FTA, with most subscribing to a couple of streaming channels of choice and accessing the rest one way or another through the internet. What drives me insane is the lack of acknowledgement by the commentators and producers that much of their audience hasn't watched every preceding game live. The days of getting up at 1AM have long passed, and I don't have to because it'll be there ready to go while I'm drinking my morning coffee. But heaven forbid I choose to watch the games out of order, because they'll see to it that they've thoroughly spoiled anything that occurred prior to that game through mouthing off, analysis irrelevant to the game at hand, and half time replay packages which they already offer as an additional on-demand product. They probably should offer the game FTA for those unwilling to learn better ways of watching, because they weren't going to pay for it anyway, but just accept the media world has changed for the rest of us.

Twenty five years + keeping the game behind a paywall. No wonder mainstream knows nothing about rugby union. It is "men's secret business", I won't pay a cent. There is a few "pirate" streaming channels I can sync on a my desktop machine and with not sense of guilt at all

Doesn't bother me. I'm in a helluva state at 1:05am and passed out face down on the carpet at 5:10am. (Is there any such time as 5:10am?) So I'll watch them on replay at a CIVILISED time!!

Channel 9 owns Stan. So it's their choice not to show Wallaby games on FTA. It's not a commercial constraint. Very disappointing, but perhaps not surprising when you hand rugby union broadcasting rights to an organisation that is committed to the dominance of rugby league.

Shame there’s no free to air broadcast. Does that mean the away game v NZ will also be Stan only?
