Saturday football continues with the Fremantle Dockers hosting a struggling Collingwood Magpies outfit at Fremantle Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 7:15pm AEDT.

The Dockers continued their impressive, attacking football of Round 1 with a Round 2 victory at home against two-time grand-finalists the Brisbane Lions.

It was Fremantle’s first win over the Lions and it was another game to be excited about, with the Dockers kicking 10 goals including two each from Gabby O’Sullivan and Round 2 Rising Star nomination Sabreena Duffy.

In another challenging start to the season, Collingwood fell short again last weekend, this time to Melbourne by 17-points.

The wind was wreaking havoc, but still, scoreless through the second and third quarters was tough to watch.

Collingwood only just rescued themselves of total embarrassment at their spiritual home against an old foe with a final quarter goal by Sarah Dargan.

Some experienced help in the forward line will surely be welcomed for this clash.

Fremantle were forced to make one change to their side this weekend, with Gabby O’Sullivan ruled out due to a suspension.

After being listed as an emergency for the first two rounds, Brianna Moyes takes O’Sullivan’s place. She is the Dockers’ seventh AFLW debutant this season.

In addition to O’Sullivan, Leah Mascall has been omitted from the side.

Head coach Trent Cooper has opted for Laura Pugh to add height in defence against the taller Collingwood attack.

Meanwhile over at Collingwood the axe has been swung after two losses to open their 2019 campaign.

Lauren Butler, Erica Fowler and Sharni Layton have all been omitted, while vice-captain Emma Grant will miss with a shoulder injury from last weekend’s clash.

Stephanie Alexander will return to the side after missing round two with concussion; Holly Whitford has been named on the interchange for her first game in 2019.

Nicole Hildebrand (Brisbane) and Maddie Shevlin (Melbourne) will make their debuts in the black and white after crossing to the Pies at the end of last year.

Shevlin, a strong midfielder delisted by Melbourne at the conclusion of the 2018 season, has earned her AFLW opportunity with a stellar 2018 VFLW season but will be tested in her first official AFLW game.

The last time these two sides met was in round two, 2018 at Optus Stadium in front of 41,975 people. The Dockers ran out 13-point winners for the first time at their new stadium.

Prediction
Through the first two rounds, Fremantle have been the surprise package. Working together to produce attacking footy, this side really has pulled it all together in 2019.

The same can’t be said for the Magpies, another disappointing start to a season will continue with a loss on the road.

Dockers by 21.

Alrighty, thanks for tuning in this afternoon/evening, once again I enjoyed blogging the AFLW for you. Thank you for your input throughout. Really enjoying what Fremantle are bringing to the table this year and look forward to seeing how they grow. Pies certainly have work to do, but in that last quarter they showed some fight, only hope they can bring that to the first quarter of their round four clash with GWS.

Dockers on a roll The Fremantle Dockers have defeated the Collingwood Magpies by 33-points at Fremantle Oval on Saturday evening. In another convincing display, the Dockers women got off to a fast start with the wind, putting two classy goals on the board to open the match. Again, the Collingwood ladies failed to put a major on the scoreboard in the first half, and with the deficit at 31 at the main break, things looked ominous for the Pies heading into the third quarter. Sarah D’Arcy put the Pies on the board thanks to two 50-metre penalties, but the celebration was short-lived as the Dockers hit back through Kellie Gibson. The final quarter was Collingwood’s best for the match, however, lacked some class in the forward 50 to convert entries into goals on the scoreboard. A full, four-quarter, team effort from Fremantle was impressive viewing for those at home and exciting for the 5,443 fans at Fremantle Oval. The Dockers, who have struggled in past seasons, look to be enjoying their footy and with a team-first, attacking game-style should go far this year. Kara Donnellan (19) found plenty of the ball, while Kiara Bowers (15 disposals, 1 goal, 8 tackles) found the ball and hit the scoreboard with a goal. The forward pressure and skills of Ebony Antonio (2 goals, 12 disposals) and Kellie Gibson (2 goals, 9 disposals) helped lead and direct their exciting forward line. Sarah D’Arcy (15 disposals, 1 goal) was impressive for the Magpies, linking the chain on the half-forward line, while Stacey Livingstone and Ash Brazill were again reliable in defensive 50. A couple of injury concerns out of the game including Dockers’ debutant Brianna Moyes who lasted less than a quarter, succumbing to a knee injury. Magpies’ star Ash Brazill also looked a little sore in the ribs and copped a knock late in the game, but there is no concern of serious injury. Next up for Fremantle is a trip to Adelaide to take on the Crows on Saturday night, while Collingwood will head home to face the Giants, both will be desperate for a win to keep their season alive. Final score Fremantle 7.9. 51 Collingwood 2.6. 18

For the number of inside 50s they had, I agree Freo should have put a bigger score on the board. Such an impressive game style though, can't wait to see this team develop as the surprise package of the 2019 season!

Full time stats, Dockers finish with 42 inside 50s to the Pies 22, disposals 204-168 and clearances 27-17 - dominant performance around the ground by a confident Dockers outfit. Really enjoying watching their attacking style of footy and while they didn't make the most of all their opportunities today, it was super impressive to see their forward 50 pressure and some classy finishes. Another awesome win. Exciting time to be following this team. I think the girls will still be disappointed they didn't get over the 60 mark considering their dominance.
