The Gold Coast Suns and Adelaide Crows meet at Metricon Stadium in Round 17 AFL action. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:25pm (AEST).

The key word on the Gold Coast for this clash could well be embarrassment. Both will be attempting to shake off the shame they must have felt after appalling efforts in Round 16.

The Suns were belted by the Tigers at home to the tune of 92 points and the Crows fell away horribly in the second half of the Showdown against Port Adelaide, eventually getting lapped and losing by 57 points.

Both losses put serious dents on their seasons, with the Suns having now fallen away dramatically after a bright start and beginning to look more like their old selves again.

The Crows had sneaked themselves inside the top eight and a win would have pushed their top-four claims, however, Simon Goodwin’s men were well off the pace against their cross-town rivals. This match looms large for the Crows, with a chance to get back on track and anything other than win will probably see them slip out of the eight altogether.

The Suns have just three wins for the season and sit last on wins with the improving Carlton.

If the losses keep coming, it is hard to see anything other than another bottom of the table finish for a club still searching for identity and purpose. Despite the woeful losses last weekend, both coaches have given the bulk of their squads a chance at redemption.

Things will be a lot brighter within the four walls of the club that seizes that opportunity tonight.

Prediction
The Crows could well do something quite similar to what the Tigers managed against the Gold Coast last weekend. To me, the Suns are starting to look disinterested and a few of their young bodies appear jaded, as the season moves into its third quarter.

Crows by 8 goals.

I felt nothing. There is nothing the Crows can take from this game. Not even Eddie x6.

What would the Suns look like if – Gary Ablett, Josh Caddy, Charlie Dixon, Tom Hickey, Tom Lynch, Brandon Matera, Steven May, Jaeger O’Meara, Dion Prestia, Adam Saad, and Zac Smith were still all playing for them?

The Adelaide Crows have smashed the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium by 95 points. That's right folks, 95 points. It was a massacre from go to whoa and the Crows successfully responded after a disappointing performance against their cross town rivals last week. The Suns would have been looking for a similar bounce back, after an awful loss to the Tigers in Round 16 yet they were well off the pace tonight. The Suns were awful. Eddie Betts kicked six for the Crows and there will be some serious discussions taking place on the Gold Coast and at AFL House in regards to the future of the expansion club, should this sort of performance continue to be replicated. Well played Adelaide, yet it may be deceiving to take too much from a game that saw them pitted against a disinterested and under skilled Suns team. A team that appears to be looking forward to their end of season trip. Final Score Gold Coast…………..8..8…56 Adelaide……………..23..13…151
