It’s a farewell to two Hawthorn Hawks champions as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:05pm (AEST).

Triple-premiership stars Ben Stratton and Paul Puopolo will both hang up the boots for the Hawks after this afternoon’s clash although, with a rebuild set to begin, it could be curtains for a number of other players too. It’s been a season to forget to Hawthorn, who come into this clash having lost 11 of their last 12.

Gold Coast may only have five wins to their name, but they’ve enjoyed a very solid campaign in 2020, with plenty of young players showing promise and their competitiveness from game-to-game increasing to a level not seen in years. They do look to have run out of steam over the last fortnight, however, so they’ll hope for a good finish today.

The Hawks have dominated the Suns over the course of their rivalry, winning ten of 12 matches overall. Last time out, Hawthorn crushed Gold Coast by 70 points in what was Jarryd Roughead’s farewell game.

Perfect send off games for Stratts and Poppy and just as importantly today gives the Hawks faithful some sense of a solid future.

Haha Stuart Dew may be reading the roar comments. They put Rankine in the centre for the last 3 bounces and he had 2 clearances. This team will be unreal one day. Rowell back, Rankine in there when they need it, Anderson will get better with his disposal next year, Greenwood is solid, Miller plus all the other youngsters coming through the midfield, they will actually get the ball forward to what will be a superstar forward line. Lukosius looked way more damaging as a forward, I reckon he will start there next year and never play defence again. Good on Hawthorn for getting that goal to Stratton. EPIC!!

Gold Coast will actually be a solid team next year, they are just not letting there good players play where they should. Lukosius, King, Rankine, aisnsworth etc. they will be the best forward line in the comp in a few years.
