Port Adelaide are out to complete South Australia’s stranglehold on their festival of footy when they face the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).

After crosstown rivals Adelaide thrashed Carlton on Thursday night, the Power have a high bar to clear to even match the Crows’ stunning win.

Captain Tom Jonas has succumbed to injury, but with Ryan Burton back from suspension, Port still have the same defensive structure that proved crucial in a thrilling win over Sydney. It’s in attack, though, where their chances of victory lie: Charlie Dixon, Todd Marshall, Junior Rioli and co. will need to fire to take down the Bulldogs.

After a horror start to 2023, the Bulldogs have got back on track with consecutive wins over Brisbane and Richmond. Heading to the scene of their remarkable preliminary final win over the Power in 2021, that night’s hero Bailey Smith misses through injury as one of four outs, with goalsneak Cody Weightman coming in for his first game of the season.

Can’t see it mate we have to often squandered leads & when some teams get the ascendency we put the handbreak on & allow teams to run over us. Systematic revolution needs to take place for my team to develop a harder edge. I would be a ruthless taskmaster if given the opportunity. :silly:

We went in too tall, that’s for sure. They knew it would be wet but played 3 tall forwards, dumb. The game was lost when Lobb went into the ruck and Bont rested forward in last; the same thing nearly happened last week. I just dont get why they would do that; take away your big advantage, just dumb. Port flogged us in the clearances as soon as that change was made.

Nah not in the same ball park as the 16’ lads our defence is lacking mongrel & our mids are getting older & nothing to replenish. Forwards are very raw & will take time. Nort, Jamarra & Darcy will peak in 25 & 26’. The dogs need to trade Bailey Smith while he has some currency.

After such a hard slog a trip to Perth isn't really what's required but I reckon I'll be backing you guys(oh opps that's not actually.a good thing is it.lol.) but if you guys hit in like that against freo at the moment and you should win I reckon. It could be one of those seasons where it's that tight for the 8 that you inly.need to get a roll.in at the right time and you could leap frog teams quite easily. Just need to hang in as best you can and time that run like you guys did in 16

I was pleased with the dogs endeavour which was lacking in first two games & we have slowly gained some form since. Long way to go but losing first two has placed us in the 8th-12th bracket at best. Freo next week & they have the wood on us in last few not confident at all. If we are 2-4 after 6 the noose will gain traction on Bevo neck.

Thanks man. To be honest once you get that breaknin the last quarter I thought it was game over, we played well but just couldn't quite match you guys for long enough, so I'm very happy with the endeavour of the players after the showdown loss I wasn't sure we still had it in us late. In the end I think the wet weather may of helped us gave your minds an advantage but probs actually helped our defence with your bigger guys, made it alot harder for them.

We had our opportunities apart from those frees not paid & our forwards were lacklustre to say the least.Bruce going Down at 3 qtr time was a cruel blow. O’brien is a hack don’t want him playing another game of footy for our club

Great win by your lads Adam & the dogs had plenty of opportunities but snuffed it. When Bruce went down at 3qtr time l knew we were toast.

Haha. The story of his whole career - one of the worst players to play over 100 AFL games. Almost O'Brien - shows enough glimpses to suggest there's something more there but there simply isn't.

How did they miss the blatant push the back of Weightman at the top of the goal square early in the last? Completely took him out of the contest and an umpire was right there, about 10 metres away, unobstructed view, so chose to not pay an obvious free kick. That’s when Port got a home ground advantage that 16 other teams didn’t get this week. Coincidentally, this was right after the free kick that Hannam got to get a goal that Alister Nicholson, yet again, carried on about the umpires when the Fogs got a free, but had naught to say about the most obvious free kick of the night that wasn’t paid. Its frustrating because that would have put us 2 goals up with the momentum.

Dam what a hard slog and nail baiting game for the second week in a row, I officially have no nails left, yes I know terrible habit.lol. So I think thats as many games under 2 goals we've won this year as we did all of last year. Really don't want to keep putting ourselves in that position but definitely good to be able to hang on and come back. Bulldogs and Port fought hard and threw their body's in all night can't doubt the commitment feom both teams commiserations to the dogs and to channon, if we both play with that intensity all year we should both win more than we lose. Go Port. Interesting thing I remembered too, we've got a few players that have lost parents and in one case both parents plus a couple that needed father figures so Ken actually really is like a dad to some of these boys which is where the reports of him loving him so much probs also stem from. Still need to keep winning otherwise it doesn't mean much but just something I remembered.lol.

Had I known that I’d snuck out onto the SCG last week and sawn the legs off of his bench.
