The annual Dreamtime at the ‘G match has arrived to headline the Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round, with Essendon looking to defeat Richmond for the first time in the fixture since 2014. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 7:30pm (AEST).
With the form we have witnessed from both sides this season, it would be brave to tip a 2-7 Bombers to defeat a Tigers outfit on a three-game win streak.
History would suggest big games and packed crowds are the perfect ingredients for close and exciting matches however so nothing is out of the equation.
In the last four encounters between the two teams, Richmond have won by less than four goals on three occasions.
The Bombers haven’t beaten Richmond since round 11, 2014, however, leaving the Tigers in the hot seat to continue their winning run of 12 straight games against the red and black.
The Bombers will be without midfielder Jye Caldwell and Jordan Ridley (health and safety protocols), while Devon Smith will come into the side.
Tigers will be missing last week’s debutant Bigoa Nyuon, Jack Graham (toe), Marlion Pickett (suspended) and Noah Balta (hamstring). Jack Ross, Josh Gibcus and Robbie Tarrant will come into the Tigers’ line-up.

This Essendon. Team presents bare minimum.aggression expected of an AFL team then plods around playing a negative game but never threatening to take control of the game !! The sad thing is seeing all those talented players who've have left the club playing elsewhere because of King Messiah James Hirds master plan with Dankenstien What a mess and destruction of intergrety he left behind crippling the club for who knows how long. Then having the gall to show up in.opposition's coaching box ! The AFL is a joke the man should have been banned forever '!

I flicked over every 15 mins for 5 mins or so and my impression was it was one of the worst games I have seen this year The crowd seemed as flat Oh well the country was changing elsewhere. Big chance for someone up forward this week. Plant Nank at FF, ruck with Soldo, and deploy Martin and elastic Bolton in the forward line?

Nah you’ll be right you have Martin he will get better from week to week, stick Martin at full forward & draw the flankers up field keep the swarm of Swans away for Martin to wreck havoc. swans are playing like they are 15th on the ladder.

The loss of Lynch and Lambert will hurt, especially with no Balta to cover. Think we might be in a bit of trouble next week, Chan.

Tiges were inaccurate and untidy with the ball and the Bombers played a defensive/harm minimisation game. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the win and we're only at Round 10. Don't forget, the Tigers were embarrassed by 11 goals by the Saints in their Premiership year of 2017! Still a long way to go.

26 point lead at half time. Against one of the weaker clubs in the teams in the comp, the Tigers showed very little in 2nd half. But I take your point.

Tigers flex their muscles Richmond held off a hard-fought Essendon to take home a 32-point win, extending its win streak to four this season in Dreamtime at the ‘G in Sir Doug Nicholls round. The Bombers matched the Tigers in the opening term staying just one goal apart although a four-goal to one opening 15 minutes in the second quarter gave the Tigers a 24-point lead. From there the Tigers controlled the game as the Bombers couldn’t get closer than 15 points of leading. Jack Riewoldt starred with four goals, two in both halves, while Shai Bolton and Maurice Rioli entertained with two goals each. Dion Prestia was busy for the Tigers picking up 36 disposals as well as Liam Baker 30 and Jayden Short 29. Darcy Parish had 43 disposals for the Bombers, Zach Merrett 33 and Mason Redman 29. TIGERS RUN AWAY Four Tiger goals to one in the first 15 minutes of the second quarter gave the Tigers a lead which they were able to control for the remainder of the game. BOMBERS GET AGRESSIVE The Bombers tried to get under the skin of the in-form Tom Lynch early and many of the other Tigers throughout the match. It was aggressive and firey but the Tigers were able to stand up to the challenge. SCORE REVIEW Dusty’s snap in the first quarter could have put the Tigers up by 13 points at quarter time although a lengthy score review deemed that it hit the post. Tensions grew across the ground as the decision dragged on with the review going ahead without the use of ‘edge’ technology. Replays were blurred and didn’t show enough which would have made ‘the edge’ the perfect tool to help with the final decision. For some reason, it never appeared on screen. How come? Maybe it was faulty but it’s not right nonetheless. Following this, other score reviews dragged on throughout the game frustrating fans. SCORES TIGERS 2.3 7.5 9.12 11.14 BOMBERS 1.2 3.3 6.3 7.6 GOALS TIGERS: Riewoldt 4, Bolton 2, Rioli 2, Edwards, Castagna, Soldo. BOMBERS: Hobbs 2, Waterman, Bryan, Francis, Perkins, Shiel. Besides the 4 points to Richmond, I don't think either side can take much out of that game. If the Tigers make the finals they will be making up the numbers.
