Yeah same man. I thought it was good they helped her through it etc, not sure of the exact specifics on the other one maybe they didn't show remorse or admitt they were wrong but I'm pretty sure the life ban was the punishment. 100% we've got a few indigenous Academys and programmes.
TBH I have got no idea of those incidents or the outcome.
I thought Port Adelaide handled the banana throwing incident very well. And I have no problem with her being allowed back into the fold based on Ports expectations of her compliance with their requirements re apologies and education.
From all reports Port have an excellent indigenous program.
pretty sure that's right but there was an older couple and one called Eddie Betts a M. And they were banned for life, not sticking up for what they did or said but one set of rules for some and a seperate lot for others but I guess "Welcome to the real World".lol.
The point Maguire was trying to get across is that people make mistakes when speaking, and sometimes its result of poor delivery not necessarily the intent of what they are trying to communicate.
I believe the girl who threw the banana at Eddie Betts during a Showdown game was offered education through Port Adelaide's indigenous program. She was also photographed back watching the footy at Adelaide Oval late in the same season.
Whenever anybody's talking about Racism, Eddie McGuire should have to go and stand in the corner with a Dunces hat on.
Still don't understand how fans get life bans with no chance to redeem themselves, players get fined, suspended and nearly run out the game and yet Eddie is still sitting there doing what Eddie does. How can anybody take Eddie seriously when it comes to these issues.?
Not sure if you watch the Wednesday edn of Footy Classified regularly or not, but Eddie always yells down at, and over the top of, anyone who has a view contrary to his own... he is definitely the bully of the panel. As for Caroline, she is same Loydd, both are quite courteous.
In Robbie Young's case he probably had little alternative.
That he has accepted Walkers apology doesn't stop him feeling sadness, anger, hurt or any other emotion he chooses.
Sadly he won't be playing this weekend. It appears the events over the last week have taken its toll on him as well.
"Caroline is mostly on the money, but she does seem to have it in for Eddie."
As a general rule when someone on live radio says they'd donate 50k to charity to have you drowned, you tend not to think much of them in future.
Nah .. I 'm sorry but I think Eddie Maguire is right. in this case. As was Ross Lyon.
Walker monumentally screwed up and there really isn't anything to be gained from him fronting the media. Walker would've been just subjected to the media having a field day sinking the boot into him.
Whilst I thought the video was awkward, he apologised publicly and he apologised directly to the person his racist slur was directed. I thought the fact Robbie Young was present and was prepared to shake hands with Walker afterwards was quite powerful.
TBF, I 'm assuming that Robbie Young agreed to be a part of the video.
And I agree with Lyon, Walker's future lays in how he addresses his behaviour going forward.
Caroline Wilson seemed extremely uncomfortable when Maguire brought up her faux par in regard to her comments in regard to disabled athletes.
Are you serious or is it April Fools Day! Talking about Eddie having his heart in the right place when he's bleating about how hard it is to front the media is like defending ..... the indefensible. This issue is WAY bigger than Eddie and his band of dinsosaurs. For once I agree with Caro. (NEVER though I'd say that after her disgusting treatment of the Hird family).
Oh poor Eddie. He has NEVER understood the depth of this problem, or even pretended to acknowledge it. One of the worst commentators of the modern era, and a dinosaur to boot. Not very often I agree with Caroline, but on this issue she is spot on. ZERO mention from Eddie about the impact (yet again) on indigenous folks.
Caroline Wilson needs to stop talking over the top of people. She has opinions that she feels the world needs to hear but won't let others have there's or disagree with her. Whether she is rite or wrong doesnt matter when she behaves in this manner. Patronising and rude.

Not a fan of either of them but going to the media with a contrived statement and speaking like a robot would not have benefited anyone imo

Eddie was slinging mud with an aoples for oranges example... Walker made racist remarks, Wilson did not. McGuire is pure gutter sometimes.

My guess is that on the whole, most people genuinely don't understand the hurt that they are actually inflicting on the recipients of their slurs?
