Concern for Stephen Coniglio after going down with serious-looking knee injury

By The Roar / Editor

GWS star Stephen Coniglio has been dealt a cruel blow, suffering a knee injury in the opening minutes of the Giants’ clash with Richmond at the MCG.

After contesting for the footy at ground level Coniglio pulled up sore and needed to be helped from the field by medical staff, unable to put any weight on his left leg.

Coniglio entered the game with strapping on his left knee.

Fox Footy commentator Jason Dunstall was startled by the lack of contact that led to Coniglio’s injury, while the ABC’s Luke Ball was concerned by the jarring motion.

The Giants have confirmed Coniglio will not play any further part in the match.

Bad luck to Coniglio. Come to the Hawks, be up and running early in the season next year.

The Giants best chance of pinching a flag was 2016. Since then the number of best 22 players as well as their depth has been eroded to the point where if these type of injuries happen then they are buggered.

I love watching him play so hopefully it's nothing serious. Even if it's bad, he'll just go to the Hawks at the end of the year and be cherry ripe for Round 1 2020.
