Did an inattentive boundary umpire cost the Swans a goal?

By The Roar / Editor

That was out of bounds? That was out of bounds? As Wells goals!

Boundary umps are like PSO’s are to cops. They failed to make the grade and are sent to eternal purgatory in inferior roles where they can do the least damage.

looked ok to me and reid clearly didn't take it out, if anything he brought it back in the ump could not have seen past him and would have had to guess the swans should worry about the 5 defenders who all let the small Wells fumble and then get a second crack at the ball. crap defending!

Ignore camera angles that don't put the line in question in a vertical line on the screen. When the line in question is positioned horizontally on the screen there is no chance of making any type of call, (Unless the camera is positioned directly above the line). yet commentators do it all the time. If the line goes from side to side then so does the judgement scales. If the line stays roughly in the middle and works it's way form the front of the screen to the back or up and down then you have a better chance. If the line is curved you have little or no chance unless the camera is directly above the incident. Just hope this clears it up for everyone. Try and remember this little . Horizontal Lies while vertical stands.
