It was a bold call… but it certainly paid off!

I said after our first match against the Pies that Grundy looked injured to me. He is a shadow of last year's version and a groin or a back problem. makes sense. He's had an average 2020 but he is a rare breed of ruckman (talented and intelligent). Assuming he can get himself right, he'll have a big 2021 and a good chance for AA honours again.

For mine Grundy is likely carrying an injury. Even his movement and jumping isn't what it was last year, which have little to do with being out of form. In playing cameron and Grundy coll essentially tried to do to nicnat what vardy and lycett did to Grundy in the 18 GF, in tag team him to run him off his feet. Not sure it had the desired effect though as NN still dominated but in all likelihood the pies would have lost if they hadn't played the 3 big boys

I didn’t see a Gun ruckman playing for Collingwood on the weekend

Bucks is not going to critique his gun ruck in public but the simple fact is Cameron was halving more ruck contests with Nic Nat and had played under 50% game time so was able to get back and take a couple of really important marks late too. There is something not right with Grundy. I thought groin, Dr Dis pointed out it could be a back. Whatever it is his work around packs has been down all year and the opposition mids are as good a chance as ours to pick off his ruckwork. He is a beauty though and will fight through whatever is going on. It may not happen in time for this finals but after the round one pre Covid game against Bulldogs, many were calling him top 5 best player in the competition. He took a couple of vital marks himself in that last qtr too but he is very reluctant to kick the ball or bend down for loose balls in packs. Something isn't right.
