Dougie, lighten up mate, it's only footy. Port News described that hit as late, Herald Sun called it high. I like the way you defend your boys to the last. I'd be quite happy for GWS to trade Greene as blokes like him will always let you down. I am an NRL convert to AFL and support the Giants. It took the Swans years to build a fan base, GWS will take just as long. Fear not, old Gill will be pushing the umps for a tigers v Pies GF. Giants don't travel well so we're on borrowed time. Chill Bud.
Plus Dougie, Bont was of course remorseful & apologetic. In the heat of battle elite AFL players expect the intensity of play to amp up & accept the risk that comes with dynamic play. They don't necessarily accept being pinned down by a coward at halt of play & roughed up in any manner. TG's apology to Bont was pathetic like a school boy would do in a playground situation.
Accidental injuries caused by bumping a bloke will always occur - and in the incident your referring to it was a front on bump as the bloke was kicking the ball - that's footy. The larynx is a few millimetres above the chest, so Haynes was incredibly unlucky. There's no comparison between a freak, accidental injury and 4 blokes piling on top of a blokes back on the ground, pulling his hair, slamming his head into the ground, clawing at his face, pressing their elbows and forearm into the back of his head, etc. If you can't see that then it's pretty pointless debating anything with you ESL.
Agree with all...how does he get away with it. Right up there with Barry Hall if a little less...direct! Can't see TG changing his spots. He even has "form" fot this sort of thing off the footy oval.
Not a good look that press conference. He really is a sociopath willing to say or do anything for his own benefit. Does he make his teammates walk taller? Probably yes. He is a gun player, but what sort of culture is GWS developing? Is a win at all cost/ damage mentality the way to go? For GWS probably yes, but for the AFL allowing calculated thuggery on a defenseless player is almost as bad as Barry Hall v Staker.
Time for independent medical examinations and reports, paid by AFL, in such cases, plus compulsory evidence of victim??? Has the old boys club outlived its usefulness?
What a pathetic result & ultimate waste of time (& money!) If his case was referred immediately to tribunal there must have been a pressing reason...oh, wait a minute the AFL needed to top up their cash reserves - that's the hurry and they wanted their cash fast - 12 mins in fact! Get Leon Cameron up on charges also...(He's resposible for the team-cum-corporation after all)
3rd try to post this!
Absolutely right Dougie.
Gee I wish I was at that post tribunal media session last night. I would have jumped over the media and given him something to think about. Rotten sod.
How has this bloke only served 6 weeks from 16 charges across his career? The AFL is helping it's western Sydney experiment remain competitive. Bad message letting him off with a fine for his cowardly eye gouging, hair-pulling, head-pounding of a face-down defenseless player who was underneath 4 Giants. I'm surprised the media isn't criticising this outcome.

Cheers ESL. Good to have you on the site and switching over from the rhino-neck, brutal sport of NRL.

His actions were deliberate and malicious and are not want we want to see in the game. How he escaped suspension is a complete mystery to many.

Greene is not sorry for his actions, he is sorry he got caught. His dog acts arent going to stop. Current AFL management is simply a joke.
