Suppose Richmond loans Fremantle a player. At the end of the season the player returns to Punt Road and gives Hardwick inside secrets about the Dockers. I don’t think so.

What about each finalist being able to add one wildcard player to their squad from the teams that don’t make the finals?

No way. If a player changes clubs it should be considered permanent not temporary. Open up some limited form of trading during the season if necessary.

Whilst I'm unsure if AFL clubs trading is the way to go I firmly believe that when clubs run out of ruckman they should be able to recruit one from the lower leagues as the weight disparity between able bodied ruckman and slight tall players can be up to 20 kg .
