The Adelaide Strikers host winless reigning champions the Melbourne Renegades on Sunday afternoon at the Adelaide Oval, with both teams hoping to get their seasons back on track. Join The Roar for live coverage of the match, with live scores and a blog from 3:40pm (AEDT).

For the second time in four days the Strikers’ bowling line-up leaked too many runs at the death, losing to the Sydney Sixers by two wickets.

Bowled out for a modest total of 135, eight wickets including a Rashid Khan hat trick failed to slow the Sixers, who made the runs with eight deliveries to spare.

Still yet to register a win this season, the Renegades will be ready to attack in Adelaide.

Melbourne’s most recent loss was to their rivals the Stars. Shaun Marsh and Marcus Harris opened with an 86-run partnership, however the team’s 168-run total was not enough for the bowlers to defend.

Adelaide have made two changes to their squad. Alex Carey flew to India for national duties with the ODI team following Wednesday’s loss, while Cameron Valente has been dropped. Harry Nielsen will move into the final XI to take the gloves in place of Carey.

Travis Head returns to the Strikers’ line-up as skipper, joined by spinner Liam O’Connor.

The Renegades have also made a couple of changes with Afghan off-spinner Mohammad Nabi set to make his first appearance in red for the BBL09 season. Fellow international Richard Gleeson leaves the squad at the end of his eight-game stint in Melbourne.

All-rounder Nathan McSweeney has also been added to the squad, meanwhile pace bowler Luke Robins has been omitted.

When these teams met earlier this BBL season, the Strikers won by 18 runs. A competitive total was set by a Phil Salt half-century and Alex Carey’s 40, while Rashid Khan’s contribution of two wickets and 25 runs was judged best of the night.

Prediction
Close on several occasions, all aspects of the game will eventually click together for a Renegades win.

The home crowd will be hoping Sunday isn’t that day though, with the Strikers eager to stay in the top four.

Adelaide to win.

For a while I was finding it pretty funny, the reigning champs winless after 6. Then after 7, 8, 9. Actually starting to feel pretty sorry them now, they seem completely dejected. :unhappy:

Adelaide Strikers get back on the winners list with a 63-run victory over the Melbourne Renegades. Jonathon Wells is named Player of the Match for his 58-run innings. He also took a catch to remove Tom Cooper. Matt Short partnered Wells nicely with 41 runs off 28 deliveries, Jake Weatherald (27 off 12) and Travis Head (22 off 20) played little cameos early on in the piece. Patel, Nabi, Mennie, Wildermuth and Boyce each took one wicket. With 173 runs on the board in the end, the Strikers would have felt confident for the second innings. Head struck early, removing Marcus Harris, then Peter Siddle removed Sam Harper for five runs. Beau Webster's 49 run innings carried Melbourne through more of the overs than they would have faced if he too had fallen early. The Renegades were decimated by the Strikers' bowling attack in the end, bowled out for 110 runs in the 18th over. Another disappointing effort. Siddle finished with three wickets, while the spinners Head and Rashid Khan took two. Neser and Conway got in on the action, with one each as well. Strikers 6/173 Renegades 110
