Australia and will be hoping the forecasted rain holds off as they head to the Taunton County Ground in Somerset for fourth match of the Cricket World Cup. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:30pm (AEST).

Australia had their first loss of the campaign last time out against India at The Oval, and it was quite a strange performance from the Aussies after they got things going with wins over Afghanistan and the West Indies.

While the bowling attack struggled to contain India’s all-powerful batting order on a road, they then constructed the chase strangely from start to finish, leaving far too much to do towards the end, finishing 36 runs short.

The men from the land down under will need to better in all facets of the game moving forward, and the dangerous Pakistan pose a serious threat, particularly should rain intervene and shorten the game, although the forecast has improved in the last 24 hours.

Australia have been forced into a change for this game, with Marcus Stoinis out due to a side strain. Mitchell Marsh has been flown to England, but won’t be in a position to play this match.

Instead, it’s likely Shaun Marsh would be selected, however, it’s also possible either Jason Behrendorff or Nathan Lyon are selected, shuffling the batting order around.

Adam Zampa could also be dropped for Lyon, given his struggles with the ball.

Pakistan’s biggest problem is consistency, but when they get it right, there are few teams would stop them.

Mohammad Amir leads the way with the ball, their spinners are strong and the likes of Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq are always going to keep the runs ticking over.

If they are at their best, they will take a liking to Australia’s attack, so long as they can see of the consistent Pat Cummins and ultra-fast Mitchell Starc, with the other overs to be bowled set to be pulled apart, just like India did.

That shapes as the key to the match, as well as the impact of Glenn Maxwell and David Warner with the bat, given they are the only two who can be relied upon to score at a high rate for Australia.

Prediction
This match is going to be a really interesting one. On one foot, you never really know which Pakistan are going to show up, and on the other, the shorter the match gets thanks to the rain, the better chance Pakistan would appear to have. Despite all that, Australia should turn it around.

Australia to win.

Because he has a far better average and strike rate than Dorff in ODI and List A cricket, he's a much better fielder and batsman, and he's capable of bowling at the death. He's also dismissed Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam and should have had Pandya too. Other than that, no idea.

True, but Pakistan bowled garbage early - too short, too wide. If you have a look at his highlights they were generally regulation cricket strokes.

What balance Mitch marsh provides except cheerleading and video blogging?

Richardson would definitely be the first to go for me, looked like a real amateur today. He was basically bowling a bunch of low juicy full tosses to Sarfraz in the death overs. With Warner back in form, Khawaja doesn't add much value to the team, so he be the next one out .and probably NCN as well, since M marsh can bowl more overs and stop this nonsensical experimentation of having maxwell be the designated 5th bowler(a handy 6th option maybe, but nowhere close to being ready to bowl 5 or more overs as some might think). Funnily enough that leads to vacancies in the 11 ,again being plugged by the Marsh Brothers.

Good question dat. Richardson for one. Shouldn’t have even been in the World Cup squad. The other two though are tricky. It could possibly be out of the trio of Shaun Marsh, Usman Khawaja & Nathan Coulter-Nile. What do you think dat?

Ya, I actually think Indians thanked their own luck that Warner's stump wasn't dislodged.

What luck was against Australia in the previous game? If you are referring to the dropped catches of Rohit and Pandya then that was due to poor cricket from the aussies. You make your own luck friend. On the other hand the aussies were lucky when the ball crashed on to Warner's stump without dislodging the bail.

Geez, that was one crazy game. A few concerns for the Aussies, but the positives were Warner, Finch, Cummins and Starc with hid death bowling. For the next game, Mitch Marsh, Nathan Lyon & Jason Behrendorff in the team.

Richardson was awful... if only it was Jhye! In all seriousness I can't believe the selectors seriously thought this bloke would be a better option than Hazelwood!! He would be absolute cannon fodder against the better sides. India and England would belt him round the park

Look he wouldn't be my first choice but for team balance he has to come in. Maxwell and Finch sharing 10 overs doesn't cut it for me. Hopefully M Marsh can rediscover some of his previous ODI form which has been ok at times.

Would also like to see what Behrendorff offers instead of NCN. The game against Sri Lanka may be an opportunity for that as well. I'd almost be tempted to open the bowling with Cummins and Dorff and save more Starc overs for the middle and the death where this tournament he has been at his best. That's twice he's saves our asses at the end.

In previous match luck was on opposite site , today it was on Aussies's side. Let's call it even now from luck's part. Aussies were never in the game. Pakistan's self implosion handed them 2 points. They can consider themselves extremely lucky.
