The 11th season of the Big Bash League continues tonight as the Sydney Thunder take on the Brisbane Heat at the Manuka Oval, Canberra. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:15pm AEDT.
Ahead of this exciting clash, Thunder stand in captain Chris Green has spoken about how his side want to take revenge for the Knock Out stage loss that they suffered to the Heat in Big Bash 10 just a few months ago. “We’re turning up and wanting to knock them off,” said Green ahead of tonight’s match.
With usual skipper, Usman Khawaja, away with the Ashes squad, Green will be entrusted with getting the Thunder off to a good start and he’ll look to power hitter Alex Hales to show the rest of the side the way with the batter. Hales – the BBL10 Golden Bat winner – can take a game away from the opposition from ball one and with fellow Englishman Sam Billings, there is a distinct overseas feel to this Thunder side. Daniel Sams is worth keeping an eye on as well – he didn’t play for Australia in the recent T20 World Cup but he was with the squad and is a talented all round player.
There’s more English talent in the Heat side as Ben Duckett will hope to make an impact with the bat. He had the second highest strike rate in this year’s inaugural Hundred tournament in the UK with a rate of 137.27 runs per 100 balls. Fans might also get to see a BBL debut for pace bowler Liam Guthrie tonight. Guthrie has been part of the Perth Scorchers squad for the past two years but not played a game yet and the Heat could do with his lively pace.

They need to take Woody Guthrie out somewhere with a curtain and a shotgun! Worst bowling session in the history of the BBL. Well done Boof!!!

The Heat are an absolute disgrace! The players should hand their pay packets back in shame after that effort!

Heat need a stronger batting all rounder at 7 Bazley was very inconsistent last year they have struggled to find a good all rounder.

Not sure who's got the hairiest forearms Ricky or Maxwell .

Most of his fans talk the "big game"...not so much Lynn himself. Unless he scores 60 or 70 at a strike rate of 300, he's on a hiding to nothing.

Lynn really is one of the most overrated cricketers I have ever seen. Loves to talk a big game and rarely delivers. So glad Australia has moved on from him.
