Australia will look to level the series with England in the second T20 of the three-match series. Join The Roar for live scores and from 11:15pm (AEST).
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Aussies in the first T20 on Saturday morning. Fielding first, timely wickets from the Aussie bowlers restricted England to a manageable score of 7/162 – Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar and Kane Richardson all taking two wickets each.
Reaching the end of the 14th over at 1/124, the visitors looked to be cruising before an unfathomable 4/9 collapse put them on the back foot. Questionable and careless shot selection was mostly to blame, before a timid innings from Marcus Stoinis – 23 off 18 with one boundary – saw Australia fall two runs short.
They’ll need a much better performance tonight to avoid dropping the series.

Australia squad
Aaron Finch (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Riley Meredith, Josh Philippe, Daniel Sams, Kane Richardson, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa
Except that this innings called for caution, and even though he got out on 35 without really putting the foot down, was a solid knock which at least gave Australia a sliver of hope. More than I can say for Carey and honestly Maxwell again getting out just when we need him to explode...
Jesus no, Mitch Marsh should never play for AUS again. He's terrible in Tests and T20s, mediocre in ODIs. Let's just cut the rope and let his kite fly away for once and all

This but instead of Stoin just play Marsh at 6. He’s such a clean hitter these days

Yeah, odd decision. Was expecting Cummins or Richardson.

Why is Zampa bowling that extra over? Exact same mistake made in the first game.

Would be funny if the batsmen stops play for the one guy sitting in the stand.

Although Aus had a dreadful start this game it has highlighted how Aus can improve and that’s by dropping Carey for Phillipe and batting Smith and Maxwell lower. Aus have plenty of top order batting options so let Maxwell bat later. A lineup like this looks more solid next game. Warner Finch Stoinis Smith Maxwell Phillipe

I'd like to see Agar just go for shots when he comes out although this game he had to play safe early. Aus have Cummins and Starc who can both make quick runs in T20.

So Aust have burnt their first review on the second ball.

Cummins should have run, last ball anyway, made no difference

Although this has been a dreadful start atleast some good positives have been found and that is we have some good batsmem that can play up the order and drop Smith to 4, Maxwell to 5. On another day maybe Smith doesnt get run out there makes another quickfire 20 runs and Aus look to be in a decent position. As well as drop Carey for Phillipe please.

Australian batsmen are still very rusty by not playing cricket for six months, on the contrary English men are looking quite match-fit.
