It’s been a two day gap before the Big Bash tournament takes a turn towards its 42nd match.
The encounter between Stars and Heat might be one in the bottom four, but it’s very much crucial to the fate of both teams in this tournament.
The Stars after having a horrendous previous season and continuing that by two loses to open the new campaign came back strongly with three wins in a row.
Then, they lost two games and won two in a row. If we go by that algorithm, the Stars are due a win -But c’mon, it’s cricket. These types of things often fail miserably here.
On the other hand, the Heat would be hoping to get, at least, four out of their next five games to have a good chance if other results also go their way.
The idea of bash brothers did work sometimes in the past, but it’s the carry-on innings by the middle order they lack.
Their middle order has to step up and Brendon McCullum will be a key, having three fifties in the season consecutively.
They’ve also been lucky in getting a point due to light failure in a condition where their comeback was close to impossible – although again, in cricket, never say impossible.

Im an Adelaide Aussie resident, Kiwi , Otago, McCullum/Heat supporter. Disliked Roys' , B McCullum put down (calling him a piece of S...) on the radio a few years ago and I tried to hate him for it....... , but I cant. Andrew Symonds is developing into a great cricket commentator. His direct approach while a little parochial :) (Qld lover fair enough) is a breath of fresh air. Calls a shovel a spade sometimes but has ideas for every situation which are solid basic traditional ideas that the Heat should foster. (D Vetorri if still around next year.) Obviously R Ponting and M Waugh enjoy interacting with Roy. The Heat have failed to nail basic cricket skills. If Baz is around next year MAKE HIM CAPTAIN should move 5 to finish ( like Bailey for Hurricanes) then when seeing the heat home and running hot can slot up anywhere. Chris Lynn then free to open and smash it with a clear mind and body injury free. Renshaw should strenth the middle order when more confident and playing straighter early.

Geez, the Stars bowlers were good. When they get the Nepalese leg-spinner back, they are going to be hard play against. Don't see why they play Dunk and Gulbis. Nick Larkin is a much better bat than both.

REVIEW!! If you are suffering from a jumping heartbeat and thinking that how Brisbane lost this, you aren’t the only one. It was expected to be a much high-scoring match when Stoinis and Ben Dunk looked comfortable after the powerplay at the crease. But with the demise of Stoinis, being trapped in front, it started to get clumsy. Ben Dunk pulled one straight into the hands of deep square leg and matters got worse from there. Brendan Doggett bowled beautifully and picked up the important scalp of the Big Show. After openers, Bravo (17 runs) and Maddinson (18) being the only two to get over 10 runs tells you the story. But Brisbane had more under their sleeves. The famous collapse which take everything away with it, came quickly. After a good start from openers, Bryant became too ambitious and gifted his wicket in the process. From there, no one stayed long on the crease. McCullum did a McCullum playing a horrible swipe. Renshaw and Peirson gave something more than hope for Brisbane Heat fans with a good partnership. But the collapse that was hiding in a cave came back to haunt ’em. Renshaw edged, Stoinis roared, and no one was bored. Ben Cutting had to go for a shot fut failed as it was slowed down beautifully by Stoinis. 14 from the last over was always a big ask for Lalor who’s considered a good hitter as Bravo bowled some good round-thw-wicket stuff. This is probably it for Brisbane and they have only their batting faults to put under microscope. Again, how did they lose that?

I can never tell whether the Heat lost or the opposition won

….. No, Bravo bowled an excellent yorker and Swepson somehow squeezed it for four. And only a single of the last balls. Brisbane Heat lost the match. How? First we have to solve the Bermuda Triangle mystery and then we can come back to this bigger one, “How Brisbane Heat make a match outta nothing? ” .

A single by Lalor, two sixes needed of two balls. Swepson on strike, can he do the improbable?

Lalor tried to McScoop a round-the-wicket slower ball and missed. Next ball, he missed again, and oh! Doggett is at the same end. Bravo completes the formality of hitting stumps.

How to make an easy chase difficult - a Brisbane Heat story

Oh Cutting! What have you done. It was a slow ball by Stoinis and Cutting top-edged, not having his head in shape a dolly for the mid-off fielder.

Josh Lalor comes down the track and pulls it towards leg side where fielder is standing only a single. A dot ball next up. Pressure!!!!
