agree . If you read the Laws of Cricket the preamble describes the spirit of the game, how it should be played and the law 1.4 the captains responsibility.

Pat Cummins did not deserve the player of the series award

Yes.. well said Graeme. I receive a few texts from mates outside Australia saying the same thing , mostly not appropriate on this format.
Again CA or whoever selected Player of the Series got it wrong. Its bad form and insular parochialism to award any player from a losing team a PoM or PoS again harps back to where CA were years ago and leading into the sandpapergate. Even T-V commentators in general have recently given a more balanced commentary. What better finale to the series with one of the best test matches ever. For test cricket lovers who have a love of the game with proper etiquette for the laws of cricket this series had it all.
Pat Cummins is a class player obviously . But not the PoS.

AB says time for rethink.
The Allan Border Medal ,strikes connotations of an award given to someone who epitimises the qualities of the great AB.
A player who in the face of defeat, battles and battles to save or win a game, showing couragous leadership qualities, respected world wide for sheer loyalty, teamwork, sportmanship and admired by all. Not given to someone who should have been sent home from an Ashes tour and orchestrated an act in South Africa that bought Cricket Australia to its knees.

Warner's win means it's time for an Allan Border Medal rethink

good comment as ignorance is bliss to some. Also winning the toss in hot conditions was the advantage that NZ needed to compete better in hot conditions and wearing pitch. NZ need a better spinner and with Bolt back should make a game of it in Melbourne .

Australian bowling trio runs through New Zealand for emphatic first-Test win

Yes he is despised world wide , good to see George Gregan and Drew Mitchell distance themselves

Phil Kearns believes All Blacks get a 'free ride' from refs

Boo Hoo … Does D Warner think he is the W.G.Grace of Sydney grade cricket. You have to be injured to retire. Has he learnt nothing in exile ??…. According to Fox Sports Sam Alexander’s story a few weeks ago Obviously not!!! Where is the humility and maturity that needed to be addressed and has always been lacking. Sportsmanship and the Spirit with in which cricket is to be played has been clearly defined in The Laws of Cricket for more than a hundred years. This lack of Humility and a win at all costs attitude is what bought Australian Cricket to its knees. Part of the Mantra of the greatest ever ( in terms of Results) sports team is Humility in Victory and Humility in Defeat, so maybe they should be looking to a team like NZ’s All Blacks. Maybe Justin Langer is on to it when he says you have to be a good man as well as a good player, to play for his team, but time is running out for D Warner…. And why does his wife get air time , why not invite Phil Hughes brother Jason to say what he thinks on T-V. Mrs Warner says comments ” went too far ” and then continued to say David will continue to play aggressively O K !!! Do they think they are better than everyone else, remember before South Africa, she was bagging Ben Stokes, saying Warner punching Joe Root in a night club in England wasn’t as bad. Truth is CA didn’t have the guts to send D Warner home , in fact 12 months after they gave him the Vice Captaincy ( arguably the second most honoured office in Australian sport ….if you live by the sword you die by the sword… does Australian Cricket really need him moving forward.

Candice Warner opens up about David's 'walk-off' incident

David Warner reportedly leaves field during Sydney grade match over sledge

Brad Thorn recently said in an interview that it was a hard decision to cut QC. He stated that he had been QC’s gym coach for the previous season. Time enough to get to know him well. Also the unspoken stuff where QC would move to fullback on defence because his chanel at first five created too many holes , was a bit of a joke. Super Rugby has evolved to where all 15 guys need to be enthusiastic tacklers and strong supporters in the clean outs and QC was never that…..

Brad Thorn's selection policy has him on the right track for a Reds resurrection

Ya hoooo how fantastic to not have watch the cricket on channel9 with volume off.
Yes Bill Lawrey is like a good wine as I think he realised some time ago that parochial , one sided commentary had a use by date. I hope the rest dont get picked up as they are loathed internationally …

Yes it is Culture where winning at all costs and a fervent desire to win sadly comes before fair play in Aussie culture.
Spirit of the Game and Sportsmanship sadly went out the window years ago, replaced by this fervent desire to win at all costs… Cricket if you read the Laws of the great game FIRSTLY define the spirit of the game, and states that :
” The major responsibility for ensuring fair play rests with the captains, but extends to all Yes it is Team Culture, but sadly it is the Aussie culture where WINNING seems more important than how you
players, umpires and, especially in junior cricket, teachers, coaches and parents. ”
I always coached Humility in victory and defeat. And coached and give time to all kids equally not just the stars.
…it continues:
“Respect is central to the Spirit of Cricket
Respect your captain, team-mates, opponents and the authority of the umpires.
Play hard and play fair.
Accept the umpire’s decision.
Create a positive atmosphere by your own conduct, and encourage others to do likewise.
Show self-discipline, even when things go against you.
Congratulate the opposition on their successes, and enjoy those of your own team.
Thank the officials and your opposition at the end of the match, whatever the result.
Cricket is an exciting game that encourages leadership, friendship and teamwork, which
brings together people from different nationalities, cultures and religions, especially when
played within the Spirit of Cricket. ”
Walk around Aussie sporting grounds and listen to parents comments or watch some lined in a row clapping enthusiastically for their child’s side and going silent at a skillful display from the opposition. It diminishes the Spirit of Cricket or word sport, whatever sport is being played. MAYBE we could start a ” fair sport ideology” to be taught at schools, where are teachers teach children and our children teach parents. In one generation Australia will have sportsman who are loved and respected around the world…..

Steve Smith must be sacked as captain

Prior to the recent Ashes both Mr and Mrs Warner had a bit to say about Ben Stokes. They claimed he shouldn’t be allowed to play. If you live in glass houses dont walk around naked or throw stones.
If you are not a bowler then dont sledge a batsman as cricket works better that way.

Grow up everybody, you all look ridiculous

NZ sent Ish Sodi to India early as part of their pre- planning , he’s young too only 23 or so . Craig had a poor series in Aussie but previously bowled well against Pakistan in UE tests.
NZ have gelled well under Mike Hesson where team spirit is key , and it’s about the team at all times , no Ego allowed.
These Indian wickets require a lot more respect and a lot of batsmen in the top and middle order are getting out looking for 6 instead of keeping it grounded for longer.
England vs SA was good game , they had a great batting wicket .
