It’s a must-win match for the Melbourne Stars as they tackle the Sydney Sixers in a monumental MCG clash. Join The Roar from 7:30pm (AEDT) for live scores of the match.
The equation isn’t so simple for the Stars. While they absolutely have to win to play finals, they need to claim all four points and hope other results go their way.
The Sixers have a finals spot locked up, but will want to arrest their losing run before they reach the knockout stage of the competition.
First ball: 7:30pm (AEDT)
Venue: MCG
TV: Channel Seven, Fox Cricket
Live stream: Kayo Sports, Foxtel

Looked like Jackson Bird wasn't going to swing it so they subbed him out. 2 bites at the same cherry for mine.

Not a fan of the rule(s) myself but iirc a player can't be subbed out if they've bowled more then a single over. Not sure it's an exploitable issue

The sub rules are a joke. A team should not be able to sub someone out who has already either batted or bowled in the game. Conceivably a side could use 12 bowlers in an innings. Ridiculous concept.

I’d be picking Christian in the T20 squad to NZ. Perfect guy to have coming in at 7 and bowling will suit NZ wickets

Subbed out for the x factor player

How did the sixers have Jackson Bird bowl when he wasnt in the team?, they had 12 players take part in the match.

They were playing for home ground advantage for the finals - which could be important given the Scorchers are just about unbeatable at home - but they finished second - could be important for the sixers

Typical Warnie - like an excited schoolboy before the match talking up the Stars chances - and now that they've lost the bonus point and can't make the finals he's sticking the boots in. Not without reason. For a star studded team they've certainly underperformed - bunch of show ponies really with not much tickers - it would have been an injustice if they had made the finals

Melbourne Stars seriously have no BMT (Big Match Temperament). They consistently conspire to lose from positions of strength. THE final a few years ago. Countless semis. The game against the Renegades a few days ago. And now today. Why wouldnt you open with Maxwell and Stoinis if the 10 over total is critical? Or at least bring Maxwell in at 3. And replace Gotch with someone like Cartwright or Maddinson. Why wouldnt you get your bowlers to bowl to a plan to restrict and frustrate (if you're defending 72 in 10 overs?) Just seems like they go missing in action at key times. Very frustrating.

Well, games over

Oh, so they both get a home final anyway? Guess it doesn't matter then

They're contractually obliged to make every game the best game ever...

What are the chances of the 6ers declaring after the 10th?

Actually the top 2 teams get a double chance.
