The Perth Scorchers can land a big blow to the Sydney Thunder’s Big Bash campaign when the pair meet this evening at Optus Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 9:40pm (AEDT).

This fixture has the potential to be a beauty. The Thunder have accumulated 11 points thus far, while the Scorchers are just one point behind them.

With that being the case, this fixture will have huge ramifications in regards to who plays finals come the end of the campaign.

There is a bit of pressure on the Scorchers here. They are coming off a poor loss to the Melbourne Stars, as they failed to chase down 141 at the MCG.

They fell ten runs short, but there were a few individual performances which were a positive for the Perth side.

Matt Kelly was good with the ball, as he finished with figures of 3-27 off his four overs. Cameron Bancroft was about the only Scorcher to get going with the bat as he accumulated 32.

In squad news for Perth, Liam Guthrie replaces the omitted Jaron Morgan for the clash against the Thunder.

The Sydney Thunder, on the other hand, are coming off a victory against the Sydney Sixers, courtesy of the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. They bowled out the Sixers for 76, with Daniel Sams (3-14 off three) the pick of the bowlers.

The Thunder got themselves 2-28 off 5.3 overs with the bat before the rain hit, which was enough to secure the victory.

For the trip to Perth, the Thunder’s squad remains unchanged.

Prediction
With the home crowd behind them, the Scorchers should bounce back after a disappointing defeat in Melbourne. This is a fixture both sides will be desperate to not lose.

The Scorchers to prevail.

The Perth Scorchers have defeated the Sydney Thunder by eight wickets at the Optus Stadium. It was a poor display from the Thunder. They only managed to score 153 runs from their 20 overs, which was never going to be enough. Chris Jordan was the pick of the Perth bowlers, as he finished with 3-28. Alex Hales was the only positive from a Sydney perspective with the bat, as he accumulated 85 runs from 59 balls. Liam Livingstone (78 from 49) and Josh Inglis (58 from 41) made easy work of the chase for the Scorchers. A huge win for the Perth side considering how tight the table is. Sydney Thunder - 5/153 (20 overs) Perth Scorchers - 2/154 (15.3 overs)
