Match preview:

Match five of the Cricket World Cup will see South Africa take on Bangladesh at Kia Oval to close out round one for all teams. Join The Roar for live scores and blog from 7:30pm AEST.

South Africa will go into the match with playing the extra game as they took on England in the opening match of the tournament at the same venue and after suffering a heavy defeat will want to resurrect their start.

However, Bangladesh will go into the match with an idea of the way South Africa will line up and the extra days to recover from the practice games, most importantly, won’t be faced with the surprising play of Imran Tahir opening the bowling as he did in game 1 with success.

Bangladesh were washed out in their warm-up match against Pakistan and went down in a heavy loss to India in the other.

But a positive for the Tigers is that they managed to muster 10/264 with three of their batsmen scoring golden ducks, including talented all-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan.

The pitches and ground sizes are hinting at some extremely high scores this tournament, for Bangladesh to win they will have to make early inroads with the ball and not let Tahir get on top with the ball whether that be in the opening overs or the crucial middle overs.

Prediction
South Africa has been forgotten in the lead up to this tournament.

With destruction of Faf Du Plessis and Quinton de Kock with the bat and the likes Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada with the ball, the Proteas will be a tough side to beat this tournament.

The South Africans are in trouble now. Early exit on the cards. Bangladesh were excellent. They might spring a few more surprises.

Thanks for the coverage Tyler. What a victory by Bangladesh. The best team from Asia out of the 4 that have played. Will be interesting to see how India will go.
