Think you're well off the mark suggesting he's playing that shot to put on a show. For one, I'm not sure that ball did turn into him. Look like it went straight on and maybe even turned slightly away from him. It was in the perfect spot for a shot like that and Maxwell plays it as well as anyone. People see it as a risky shot but for Maxwell it really isn't. In fact, for Maxwell, he probably feels as comfortable playing the reverse sweep as he would playing a cover drive.

It's an incredible shot, but I have to ask, "What's the point of it?" Generally the point of a reverse sweep is that they are bowling tight at the stumps with fielders out on the leg side, but fielders all inside the circle on the off side. So you reverse sweep it over or through the off side field to get the boundary. If you are just going the slog way back into the crowd, where you don't care about the field at all, it makes little sense. The ball even turned into him. Exactly the right ball to hit a shot pretty much identical to those first two sixes shown. All I can think is it's 100% for show. Playing right into the "Big Show" nickname! I guess professional sport is entertainment, so ridiculous shots can be good for that. But for a shot playing perspective, there was absolutely no need to go reverse on that!

The reverse sweep six and the hoik onto the roof will probably be the two main things I take away from that game. The talent of Maxwell is incredible yet at the same time he goes down unable to defend a yorker - albeit a cracker
