The New Zealand Warriors will travel across the ditch to play the Gold Coast Titans in Round 14’s first Friday night game. Despite their lowly positions on the ladder (13th and 15th respectively), both sides are in touching distance of the top 8, with the Warriors one win out on 10 points while the Titans are two wins out on 8. Join The Roar live scores and a blog from 6pm AEST.

However, it really is do or die for both sides – particularly the Titans – as we have gone past the midway point of the season. This is when sides start to find themselves 3-4 wins shy of the eight, and start talking about mathematical possibilities (usually in lieu of actual possibilities) of making the finals.

Adding to the Titans’ woes are some key absences – namely Kevin Proctor (fractured eye socket), Keegan Hipgrave (suspension) and of course halfback Ash Taylor has been granted personal leave.

The reliable Ryley Jacks comes into the team to replace Taylor, while Tyrone Peachey will start in the back row in the absence of Proctor. Shannon Boyd has been elevated to the bench to cover Keegan Hipgrave after missing last week’s game.

For the Warriors, they are at full strength with Gerard Beale dropped to the reserves in favour of Patrick Herbert, while Jazz Tevaga has come onto the bench for Chris Satae.

Prediction
On paper it’s hard to go past the Warriors in this one. However, that can be said for almost all games they play – given the talent in that side it’s hard to believe they’re languishing in 13th.

The Titans are essentially playing for their season. They’ll be desperate to win, although they are missing some key personnel which will make life difficult for them in the clutch moments of this game.

I’m going to pick the Warriors. I’m starting to like the look of the Kodi Nikorima/Blake Green combination, and with Roger Tuivasa-Sheck in the side there is a level of class that the Titans simply do not have.

The Warriors leave it late. A win away from being in the top 8 for the Warriors. Surprising that they are lurking around the top 8 still after a pretty ordinary season so far.

Ay. such a cheap-shot merchant that guy

How was it dangerous? If the player had the ball it would be a legal shot. It was just a little late. Outrageous that they call that a sin bin, barely even a penalty.

You're not wrong. I remember him being binned by Shane Hayne for a late hit on Michael Ennis against the Broncos in the semi final back in '08.

Needs to be part of the status quo. The whiplash impact from that shot was nasty to see. If we're serious about protecting players, we need to stamp out this rubbish. Great call.

Disagree. Dangerous shot, late, and totally reckless. We talk so much about playmakers needing to be protected; sin binning players that do that sort of rubbish will get rid of it pretty quickly. Good to see. Let's hope it continues.

Problem is other players do it and its just a penalty but a Warrior does it and it 10 in the bin. Won't see it in bin again this season.

I’m not sure if I have EVER seen a more ridiculous sin binning than that one on Blair. A joke and a travesty, just lucky it didn’t have an impact on the result.

Jeez the Titans blew it there - what was AJ Brimson thinking? Some pretty dodgy late shots by the Warriors in the last few minutes.

80' Brimson on tackle 3 puts a grubber in and no one knew it was on. RTS dives on it and the Warriors are home. Pasi takes it up on the last play and gets tackled as the siren sounds! What a finish here at Cbus Super Stadium! The Warriors just managing to hold on in the face of all sorts of adversity. Stay tuned for Cowboys vs Tigers! Titans - 20 Warriors - 24

Refs absolutely lost the plot there. Bin for a late tackle?? Glad the Warriors still won.

80' Titans with a shift left. Adam Blair has blindsided Tyrone Roberts late and he's stayed down. Huge shot, pretty typical of Blair if you look back at his career. Titans - 20 Warriors - 24
