It’s a battle between two struggling clubs as the New Zealand Warriors take on the Brisbane Broncos. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:30pm (AEST).

If the Warriors thought sacking former coach Stephen Kearney would bring about an immediate reversal of the team’s fortunes, they were wrong. The New Zealand side conceded 50 points to Melbourne last week, although the Storm’s current form indicates they won’t be the only ones to get touched up by the men in purple this year.

And in the Broncos, the Warriors are going up against a side in even worse form than their own. Brisbane are the only club to have not won a game since the competition restart, and last week’s loss to the Titans was a particularly low point. Another poor result today and Anthony Siebold may be in danger of joining Kearney in the coaching casualty list.

Things don’t get any better for the Broncos with key forwards Matt Lodge (knee injury) and Joe Ofahengaue (suspension) both out of this clash. Corey Oates was originally dropped from the matchday squad, but is set to play as a bench forward in Lodge’s absence.

The Warriors don’t have much good news on the selection front either. Captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is suspended, while the Roosters have ended Poasa Faamausili’s loan spell, resulting in a major forward-pack reshuffle.

Teams gain confidence from successful plays in attack and defence, trusting in the coach and each other. As the broncos are in 15th there is of course no confidence. Round nine; Broncos v Bulldogs. 15th v 16th. Even if they win they can’t take a lot of confidence out of beating the current wooden spooners.

Luke only scoots when there is only one marker or if there is nobody on the burst.

Luke take your blinkers off. Seriously. Maturity would have won the game. After last weeks party those lads have been coached to react. Welcome to Hollywood. Couldn’t win the game but have the points for the press conference.

The Coach is playing Tommy Dearden out of place. He is a halfback or even a five-eight. Yes he can cover Hooker for Isak Luke but the coach is not getting the best out of him as he is essentially out of position.

Yes all three. Seibold, Boyd and Milford.

As I say. Even if they do it’s no great feat. So they beat the Current wooden spooners. Help them when the top four take them apart.

Round 9, Broncos v Bulldogs. 15th v 16th. Even if the Broncos win this game they have still only beat the current wooden spooners.

Poor use of the bench is a Siebold trademark

Yeah. Really tough. Appointed captain of the Brisbane Broncos in 2020 only to be out for four rounds with injury then to shoulder the responsibilities of a failing team.

Well after the reactions from last weeks party, they obviously got an education.

Welcome to to crew. I have been barking this all year. You can’t pass on what you don’t have. Seibold was never part of the era of dominance and doesn’t breath the aura that those who follow know.

I appreciate the staunch support. Next week is round 9 and the Brisbane Broncos 15th play the 16th place Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. It will be very poor viewing but the result will be defining.

While NRL may adjust figures, some players had really good outputs. TPJ, Haas and Carrigan made decent metres (14 runs for 125, 21 for 205, 18 for 173) and ran every 3-4 minutes they were on the field. They also make 36, 44 and 50 tackles. By contrast, the bench made 70 tackles and 11 runs for under 120 m. Flegler at a starting prop made 7 runs for 66m. So senior players could step up, but the broncos need better bench strategies and medium tier players to hold their own.

I agree with you. Damaging ball runner, strong carries, solid defender and has a very quick play the ball. TPj is not coached well. He should have 25 minutes in the first half and twenty minutes at the end of the second half. For me he is being over used at this stage in his career. He would be a great impact player.
