Braith Anasta thought Kyle Feldt deserved an 8-point try, while Michael Ennis couldn’t believe the officials missed a blatant forward pass.

Typical of Latrele Mitchell to put a dog shot on a tryscorer. Call it out, he is just a bum with talent. Ratbag.....

I’m not sure what the exact rule is but the NRL tends to be adjudicated more on precedent than on the letter of the law - the official rule book is actually pretty vague a lot of the time! And in practice an 8-point try has generally been given when an offence occurs after the try has been scored (eg dropping knees onto a player after they’ve dived over).

I thought the rule was about fouled in the act of scoring. Before or after grounding doesn’t matter if it’s in the act.

The difference between the Rapana and the Feldt incidents is that Rapana was hit high after he’d grounded the ball - ie after the try had been scored. That’s what made it an 8-point try, because technically as soon as the try’s scored it’s a dead-ball situation. Feldt was hit before he grounded the ball, so technically it’s a penalty and advantage to the Cowboys - and they took their advantage by scoring the try. There were only fractions of a second in it in each case but it is an important difference.

That pass wasn’t forward, just exceptionally flat. Also no question that should have been an 8 point try, that kind of inconsistency raising questions. Another missed action was The Fox tackling Feld while he was in the air trying to retrieve a kick, that denied Feldt the opportunity to catch the ball. That was a worse miss than the others.
