'I'm eating humble pie': David Campese congratulates All Blacks after 'arrogant' jab backfires

By The Roar / Editor

His claim that the All Blacks’ “aura is gone” came back to bite him after their thumping win over Australia in Game 2 of the Bledisloe Cup.

And former Wallabies great David Campese has taken to Instagram to own up to his mistake, saying he’s “eating humble pie”.

Campese full of praise for the All Blacks’ response after their shock draw to the Wallabies in Game 1, while urging Aussies to “keep patient and keep on believing”.

The 101-Test champion caused a stir in the lead-up to the weekend’s match, describing the All Blacks as “arrogant” and claiming their era of dominance was at an end.

forever a champion campo! on and off the field, never afraid to give it a go...altho tbh, tackling wasn’t ur thing however, as a fellow former winger, thats what the other blokes were there for...perfect hair for post match interviews doesn’t happen by accident the onerous and uncouth areas of tackle, rucks and mauls are best left for those with single digits on their jumpers????

I lived in China for twenty years and used to dream of pies. Then a QueeNZlander started making wonderful "Kookaburra Pies". Now I am back in Cairns and I would not feed my neighbour's dog, "Sco Mo", the local fare. The best pie I ever tasted was in Cuba St, Wellington. The shop also made the finest Chelsea buns.

I have no problem with Campo's outbursts. I love a guy unafraid to express an opinion. If you get it wrong, apologise & move on. The worst people are fence sitters, too afraid to express n opinion. Teddy Roosevelt said long ago, along these lines, "the best thing you can do is make the right decision; the next best thing is make the wrong decision (but correct it as soon as you're aware). The worst thing you can do is make no decision at all".

When you live in Australia it's definitely a good idea to take the opportunity to eat some proper pies when you're fortunate enough to be visiting NZ
