Maybe so Gilbert, but at least he was consistent and refused to go upstairs for a clear Japanese high hit and red card in the current framework. In fact he dismissed the South African players saying it was a fair contest ... If Japan had won this in a close one the South Africans would have been up in arms for having been generally hard done by - just look at the scrums and the penaties from scrums.
