I do like the Force jersey with the black swan. But I do hate it when every team in a competition decides it'll be a good idea to wear predominantly white. Or when Scotland wear navy blue and the All Blacks wear black.
I appreciate it is a lot about merchandising sales. The Force blue and black looks really good and can be worn outside of game time without offending anyone's eyes.
For a playing strip I do like the black and gold and would not mind the reverse (eg gold and black) as an alternative strip.
But I have no fashion sense.
My club colours were maroon and I found the colour perfect for post match celebrations. Doesn't stain easily and easy to clean. England white is just asking for trouble. Only Campo could play in a white jersey.
ScottD,
I would agree & disagree with your observation. Yes, they're not called "state" teams, that's true. But they're called "provincial" teams, which reflects their similarity with NZ & SA provinces.
And partly they're called provincial teams because "provincial" rolls off the tongue easier than "state & territory" teams. Since specifically, there are 4 states & one territory team.
It's important to retain the history & tradition of their origins, which is combined state/territory/provincial.
At least we have a happy ending - Queensland has eventually realised that maroon is a shade of red, & returned to that colour.
However, as is often pointed out, these aren't state teams and so the state colours are irrelevant.
I'm looking forward to the Force wearing their home strip of ocean blue and black.
I never said that the Brumbies & Rebels should change.
ACT's territorial colours are royal blue, gold, black & white. So maybe they should change their blue from navy to royal.
Victoria's state colours are navy blue & white.
But otherwise the colour schemes are good. thank God Queensland had the good sense to return to maroon.
Good to see the WA Force wearing what should be their primary outfit, not secondary. That is, gold & black strip, the WA state colours.
There’s already enough blue in Oz rugby – NSW’s light blue & navy blue of both Victoria & ACT. We don’t need WA playing in pale blue, or whatever it’s meant to be.

I am biased as Blue and Black are my hometown's colours, some of my earliest memories are of my dad and uncles in that strip.

That'd be Ocean Blue and it doesn't clash with the NSW powder blue, normally. Agree with you that the Brumbies and Rebels should change
