After twelve rounds of W-League action the final four has been decided. Melbourne Victory, as premiers, will have already grappled with the fourth placed Perth Glory by the time this game begins.
If the Victory have indeed managed a win, they will host the winners of this match in the grand final next weekend.
If the Glory have managed an upset, both Brisbane and Sydney have the chance to play the final match of the season on home soil with a win today.
Both sides managed to compile six wins from their home and away matches this season yet the extra draw that the Roar were able to achieve sat them one point clear of the Sky Blues in the end, and so Dolphin Stadium hosts this match.
It is a big advantage for the northerners with so little between the two teams and today’s match will come down to the simple equation of grasping opportunities when they present themselves.
There is quality right across the park and it will come down to those individual efforts made by players in crucial moments.
The Sky Blues will rely heavily on Alanna Kennedy to keep order in defence and look to the explosiveness of Lisa De Vanna and Caitlin Foord up front to threaten the home side.
Brisbane will be as dangerous as ever with Chioma Ubogagu and Yuki Nagasato ferreting around up top and I will enjoy the privilege of seeing one of my favourite W-League players when Carson Pickett takes up her role at left back.
Prediction
In what promises to be a close and gripping encounter, Sydney FC look to have an edge with the depth of squad they are able to bring into this final’s series.
It will not be an easy win for the Sydney-siders but I can see them advancing to next weeks decider with a win against the Roar today.

Sydney FC are through to the W-League Grand Final and will host the decider against the Perth Glory next week. Caitlin Foord and Sofia Huerta found the net for the visitors in what was a dominant performance. Brisbane tried hard yet failed to create consistent chances. Hayley Raso was sensational for the Roar and if given some assistance may have been able to crack the Sydney defence earlier in the match. Yuki Nagasato scored late for the home side to bring some hope to the cause but Sydney held on for the final minutes to complete a wonderful victory that sets up an intriguing grand final. The venue and date is yet to be decided but one thing is for sure. Sydney FC will have Sam Kerr on their minds this week and the Perth attacking unit will be planning ways to get through the excellent Sydney defence led by Alanna Kennedy.
