The red-hot, Western Sydney Wanderers have the top six in their sights as they travel north to take on the Brisbane Roar, with a win enough to see them leapfrog their opponents into sixth. Join The Roar for live scores from 8:30pm (AEDT).

Caretaker coach Jean-Paul de Marigny has kick-started a stunning resurgence from the Wanderers in recent weeks, after the sacking of Markus Babbel appeared a white flag for their 2019/20 prospects.

Last week’s upset win over ladder-leaders and crosstown rivals Sydney FC – the second time this season they’ve defeated the Sky Blues – has seen them surge to within a victory of the sixth-placed Roar, and in the form they’re in, a continued rise up the ladder in the final rounds of the season isn’t impossible.

While the Roar were gallant in their 1-0 away loss to Melbourne City last week, the only goal thanks to a horrendously unlucky deflection off goalkeeper Jamie Young, the potency of their attack was again a concern. Only once in their past seven games have they managed more than a solitary goal, and with the Wanderers’ stunning five-goal onslaught against Adelaide United still fresh in the memory, they’ll need to create plenty of chances to hold their opponents at bay.

Prediction
This should be a tight contest, but if the Wanderers can knock over Sydney FC on current form, then a trip to Brisbane won’t faze them in the least.

Wanderers 2-1 Roar

that was a silly challenge by Jurman, can't remember who the Roar player was, he got past Jurman, but he had knocked the ball so far ahead that he was never going to do any damage from that angle, anyway, Roar were heaps better on the night

Brisbane 12 shots to WSW 2 shots. 64% possession to Fowler’s men. A greatly improved Roar. The Wanderers need to lift their game, or their fans will jump across to Macarthur Bulls. Can WSW come back?
