Central Coast Mariners welcome Sydney FC to the Central Coast Stadium on Saturday evening in Round 6 of the 2018/19 A-League season. Join The Roar for live coverage from 5:35pm (AEDT).

Both sides had tough breaks in Round 5 and will see this game as a must win. Sydney will want to keep in touch with the teams at the top of the ladder, while the Mariners look to haul themselves off the bottom.

Central Coast Mariners captain Matt Simon is coming up against his former club but Kalifa Cisse will miss out following his red card in last weekend’s game against Perth Glory.

Sydney will be without Daniel De Silva who is unable to play against his parent club whilst Siem de Jong is still troubled by a hamstring injury.

Head-to-head
The visitors have won nine of their last 12 games against the Central Coast Mariners (D2, L1), including a 2-1 victory in March.

Prediction
Central Coast were a little unfortunate to be beaten in the last minute of stoppage time last weekend and they will have felt that they deserved at least a point at Perth Glory. How they bounce back from that disappointment could be key to their season.

Despite a poor recent record against tonight’s opponents, I saw enough last weekend to suggest that the Mariners can push Sydney all the way in this game.

Central Coast 1 – 1 Sydney FC

Well, he's an idiot, but aside from that O'Neil thunderbolt, it's probably the highlight of a very average game.

A poor start to December and another defeat for Central Coast Mariners leaves them bottom of the table and winless after six rounds. Sydney FC were not at their best but they have got the job done here thanks to a tight penalty call and a wonderful solo effort from Brandon O'Neill. Up next the Mariners go to Western Sydney Wanderers on Friday night whilst Sydney FC host Wellington Phoenix on Saturday evening. That is it from the Central Coast Stadium. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

90+6' No chances for Central Coast in this period of injury time and the referee looks at his watch and blows his whistle. Central Coast Mariners 1 - 2 Sydney FC

90+4' Time running out for Central Coast. This will be an important win for Steve Corica's side.

90+2' The home side are at the wrong end of the pitch as far as the score line is concerned, defending a free kick to Sydney.

89' Last minute of the 90 with six more to come. Still plenty of work to be done for the Sky Blues.

88' Lovely link up play between Grant, Brosque and Le Fondre almost opens up the Mariners. Sydney are still committing men forward and that could be their undoing if they are not careful.

86' Another poor cross from Matt Simon, who really should be getting on the end of those not crossing them in. Desperate times now for the Mariners. Central Coast Mariners 1 - 2 Sydney FC

83' Sydney FC have shown their class in this second half by controlling the play and matching the Central Coast's intensity. They have not been at their best but still look like taking the points home.

80' Final ten minutes and Mike Mulvey will be very concerned that his side find themselves behind again despite dominating large periods of this match. Sydney are looking for the killer blow now. Central Coast Mariners 1 - 2 Sydney FC

79' Mariners spring forward and win a throw deep in Sydney territory. Quality has been lacking in the final phase for the home side in this second 45 and another cross is dollied into the Sydney goalkeeper's hands. Wasteful.

77' The physio's have earned their keep today. Retre is down now and can't continue so on comes 18 year-old Luke Ivanovic.

74' Ninkovic has had a good game despite playing injured for the best part of it. Chose the wrong option there though as he found himself in shooting range but went for an acute pass instead.

Sydney are frustrating Central Coast now and keeping the ball well. Matt Simon goes into the book for a late tackle on Grant. Central Coast Mariners 1 - 2 Sydney FC

Ha Ha, there's a tip when you invade the pitch, be as drunk and offensive as you like and the officials won't touch you. Should have belted him and removed him far quicker than that.

70' Back under way and with 20 left on the clock have the Mariners got another comeback in them? Aiden O'Neill has a shot which forces Redmayne into a good save.

68' Superb long range strike from the young man. O'Neill has goal of the month sown up there. A pitch invader with crutches is now delaying the match. It's a funny old game.

Apparently there is a pitch invader who has crutches and a moonboot. Also, he is aparently getting agressive
