Melbourne City will be out to polish up their second-half performances when they face mid-table Western United at AAMI Park. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:45pm AEDT.

The champions keep jumping out of the blocks quickly, grabbing a couple of goals before resting on their laurels and inviting the comeback. Adelaide United scored twice against them late for a 2-2 draw last week and the Roar deserved the same a week earlier. They were eerily similar matches for Patrick Kisnorbo and it is difficult to see the same happening again here.

With Andrew Nabbout and Jamie Maclaren now having opened their goal-scoring accounts for the season, City will be hoping the floodgates are about to open.

Western United could well be up for long periods of defence in attempting to stop that flood of goals occurring and have form in that department after a strong defensive showing against Perth last weekend. Dylan Wenzel-Halls scored for his new club in that match and the team remains undefeated under John Aloisi. That makes for a happy club and supporter base and today presents the opportunity for United to make a serious statement to the league, should they be able to blunt the champions’ attack and manage an unexpected result.

Thanks - hard to imagine that front three not scoring a bagful soon. Although, Nabout scores some unbelievable goals, but isn't consistent. Leckie is a fast, powerful and energetic runner, who hasn't scored a lot of goals in his career. I thought Noone had been replaced, but maybe not. I think it's good for the A League to have a dominant team for the others to aim towards - perhaps Paddy will turn it around soon. City had a slow start last year, too.

WU's tactic of soaking up pressure and playing on the counter paid off. Aloisi had them setup pretty well and Paddy K had no answer. I don't think we're getting any where near the output from Leckie, JMac and Nabbout that we thought we would. Our attack was blunted by some good defending. Lacroix owned JMac on the night.

Will watch this tomorrow. Sydney only have 2 points from 3 games, but I thought City would be blitzing it this year. What's going on?

I'm still wondering what Leckie is contributing to City. Seemed a passenger tonight. The Socceroo hardly had a presence on the pitch. Does he want to play or not???

Nice interview by Zappers with Lacroix. The big guy seems a genuine good bloke.
