The A-League’s two bottom sides go head-to-head as Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix both look to get themselves off the foot of the ladder. Stay up to date with their A-League clash with live scores on The Roar from 7:05pm (AEDT).

The Victory find themselves anchored to the bottom of the A-League ladder after seven matches – largely in part to an anaemic forward setup that’s scored just five times all season. Worryingly, those five goals have come in three games, meaning they’ve failed to score in more games than not so far.

They enter this clash having lost three in a row, with a 0-0 draw beforehand. The last time they scored a goal was against Brisbane at the beginning of February – but they conceded five in the same game.

Despite encouraging form in the pre-season friendlies, Wellington also find themselves in a hole with just one win to their name thus far. Things aren’t as bad as they are for their opponents, but the Phoenix have just eight goals in seven matches – finding the back of the net twice on just two occasions this season.

A bad patch in the second half cost them against the Wanderers on the weekend as they saw their 1-0 lead turn into a 2-1 deficit in the space of five minutes, although they replied quickly to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Still play like a lower league English team, cross the ball on for your 10ft tall striker to score

Horrid Horrid play from Wellington. They couldn't seem to do much in the box especially when Victory defended in numbers. Did losing david ball for 2 games have that much of an impact?

Congratulations to Melbourne. I still feel that Wellington are a much better team than the A-League table reflects. Is it fair they are located in Wollongong? That’s debatable. Under Rudan they looked very powerful indeed, although that’s now in the past.

Wellington should have created so much more in the first half. Victory were simply counterattacking every chance they could get. lol...

This game needs a red card, or a controversial VAR call, to to add a wee bit of spice. Oh I do like it spicy.

Victory are playing better than expected. Phoenix with a weight of possession, but nothing to show. Is this the night Melbourne bounce back?

If Wellington would just man up and shoot this'll be a much less frustrating game.

Phoenix just look tepid and unsure on the counter. They've rarely made it into the box. When they do they don't seem to want to take their opportunities. It's really simple - if you don't shoot you won't score.
